"...take a seat and tell me about yourself....

"...if you're going to be my aide, then I need to know a little about you." Claudine finished, her gaze boring into Marc. She patted the seat next to her on the couch, inviting him to sit.

Despite the scrutiny he was under, Marc relaxed a little when Claudine said 'aide' and not 'servant' before moving to sit on the couch. He already been through a few other mistresses and as such, had some experience with predicting mannerisms. While views of the those like himself varied from fighter to fighter, most viewed them a glorified toys: to be used, worked, and discarded at a whim. They were another luxury, to be enjoyed but not important in the grand scheme of things and they made that apparent with everything they did and how they spoke. The fact the Claudine even used the word 'aide' was a least an encouraging sign. Not guarantee but reassuring nonetheless.

Marc took a small breath before answering. "Well not much to say, really," he started. "I signed up to ASL to get some money to go to school and well, being the moron that I am, I didn't read the fine print, I ended up a servant here."

Claudine nodded, the look her face seemingly agreeing with the 'moron' statement. "You should always read fine print." Her tone was soft but admonishing, like she was speaking to a child.

It took a good bit of Marc's willpower to bite back the retort that bubbled up his throat. He didn't need her to tell him that, he was and had been living it!

When he first got here, he would've snapped at Claudine but the beatings he received for had drilled into him the importance of watching his tongue. That and the fact that Claudine was at least starting out reasonable so he should atleast try and be cooperative.

"Ain't that the truth," Marc continued evenly, "Anyway, I got been passed around between sumos, mostly Bronze and Silver, which didn't last too long in the ring."

Claudine raised a brow. "So you've never really been with an ASL member for anyextended time?"

Marc shook his head. "Not really. All of the ones I've been assigned to eventually got eaten, killed or just quite after taking too many beatings."

The unicorn snorted, her contempt on full display. "Such weaklings. Obviously their drive wasn't strong enough. Be rest assured, dear Marc, that I do not have such a problem."

We'll see, Marc though cynically. After hearing such lines for so long, he just need to see Claudine actually do well before he put that kind of faith in her.

The two continued this for some time. Claudine would as various questions or make observations and Marc would do his best to elaborate. Marc found the novel experience of simply being able to talk rather freely to be a novel one. Dealing with all the overbearing fighters and his past mistresses, had left him tongue tied and missing general conversation. For Claudine, she just continued to note various things about her new aide.

By the the time the two stopped it had grown rather late in the day. This was demonstrated when Claudine gave a discrete yawn.

"Well, Marc, I do believe that that is enough for today and that we should retire. I want to be up bright and early tomorrow. I will be showing you my training schedule and your expected duties."

"Okay." Marc nodded. Claudine rose from the couch and motioned for Marc to do the same. She led him through the doorway he spotted earlier. The unicorn showed him to what would be his new room. It was a rather spartan room with but it held a comfy looking bed, a sizable closet and nightstand with drawers and a desk with a laptop on it. There was even a window! The room itself was positioned the opposite of Claudine's.

After showing him his room, Claudine bide Marc a goodnight, telling him to be ready by 8 am the next morning. Marc immediately went to bed, deciding to get some rest for what was probably going to be a long day.
