Ahreed scrambled through the window panting, stumbling onto the floor with a thud.
"Shhhh! Be quiet, Ahreed!" cursed Ahrou, "The housemaster is downstairs."
"Ahrou!" began his younger brother, still panicked, "They are after me.. they tried to take me!"
The older boy quietly eased the window shut, wondering how Ahreed had climbed the wall outside. "What is wrong with you, Ahreed?" He quickly shuffled his books across his desk into a pile.
The room was small and apart from a desk, two beds and small bedside tables, there was little space. One wall was blank but for a few hanging pictures and a pin up board, while the other was all book shelving. Fortunately, Ahrou's flatmate was at tutoring.
"You cannot stay here, Ahreed!" continued the older brother, "You are not allowed in our building at night."
Ahreed was still trying to catch his breath. "Ahrou, you must help me! They are after me!"
"Who is it? Who is after you, Ahree?" asked the seventeen year old, worried his younger brother was having some kind of breakdown.
"ASIO, Ahrou," he panted, "The secret service! They came and took me from school today after lunch."
Ahrou's eyes widened and he could feel his heart starting to pound. He quickly glanced over at his laptop to see what was on the screen. "Come over to the bed, Ahreed - and keep your voice down! Tell me slowly what has happened."
Ahreed sat, his legs shaking and his body still shivering from the cold outside. "They took me after lunch, in a car to the airport," he whispered, "They were going to take me to Canberra to interrogate me."
Ahrou was confused. Briefly he wondered what to do next. "But how can they just take you from school, Ahreed?'
The younger boy was feeling safer now with his older brother and stopped shaking. "ASIO came to the school.. in a hire car.. to the Principal's office. He sent me with them." Ahreed gasped suddenly, then continued,"They took me to the airport but I ran away."
"Why didn't you call baba, Ahreed?"
