I had the whole house to myself—and it was about time, too!
Y'see, I moved back home after I graduated from Buttercombe. As much as my mom would probably have loved for me to move in with my Dad, or shunt me off to my aunt, I didn't really have much choice. I got a nice little job doing online stuff for a local business so I paid rent. My dad had a small apartment and my Aunt was all the way in South Carolina right about then. After my (precious, loveable, totally sweet) little sister Alice made her own pilgrimage to Buttercombe Academy, it was just going to be me and my mom.
Joy.
But today, for the first time in what felt like forever, I had the house all to myself! My Mom was at work and my (precious, loveable, but still really annoying sometimes!) little sister was away at private school. Which meant Mel could finally be Mel!
Not that I hadn't been Melling up the place since I moved back in. Every day I walked around with my belly hanging out, not wearing pants and stuffed into a too-tight t-shirt. I grazed endlessly on junk food and ate take-out constantly, much to my Mom's chagrin. So it wasn't like I hadn't been able to be myself, it was just... you know, nice to be all alone sometimes!
Mostly because there wasn't anyone around to tell me what to do. As long as I paid my rent and kept all my fun young people stuff away from my bitchy mom (and agreed to squeeze into some pants once in a while) my mom said I could do what I wanted!
