Herb could see the big, beefy Orc from across the field and he was kind of surprised by the sight he saw. Gour seemed to have the same down to earth look like his father and many of the other farmers of the land had. He looked strong and thick. His clothes were very well worn. Herb gave Gour a wave. Herb saw Gour's face when Four saw Herb and the Orc's face went from curiosity to shyness as he scurried away to his next task.
"Don't worry about it, he's shy at first but soon he'll be bear hugging you and wanting you to sing Orc songs in no time," Caine said patting Herb's back.
Herb kind of liked the idea of getting a bear hug from Gour and was kind of looking forward to it.
The tour concluded and Herb began to unpack his stuff. He was expecting a delivery of his belongings in the next few days, but he brought the basics.
In a few hours he found himself out wandering the farm and venturing into the woods on the side of the property. He ventured down to the stream where he had built a tree house with his father and his mother helped decorate it. Herb climbed up into the fort to see it was a lot smaller than he remembered it and felt sad as he thought about his mother.
"You miss Miss Rose..?" came a bit of a gruff sounding voice.
Herb poked his head out of the tree house to see Gour looking up at the fort.
"I miss Miss Rose," Gour said sadly.
"Yeah, same," Herb nodded and started to climb out of the fort," I'm Herb by the way."
"Yes, Mr. Caine said you would be returning to the farm," Gour stated," He missed you too."
"I missed both of them," Herb said quietly once he was on the ground," But they didn't mention you in their letters. Nice to meet you."
Herb held out his hand and Gour's hand encapsulated it and gave it a soft handshake with his massive hands.
"I Gour," Gour said with a shy smile.
"Herb," Herb replied and noticed that Gour was shaking a bit too long and seemed to be shyfully looking at Herb," You can let go, Gour."
"Me sorry," Gour said blushing and letting go of Herb's hand," It's just... Mr. Herb remind me of Miss Rose."
"Oh, how so?" Herb asked.
"Mr. Herb's pretty eyes and hair match Miss Ross's," Gour said still blushing a bit and pointing his thick index finger at Herb's hair.
"I suppose I do," Herb nodded," How about you? Do you look like your parents?"
"My parents were killed by raiders, Miss Rose save Gour," Gour answered.
"I am so sorry to hear that," Herb said. Herb had heard of many people who lost their family or friends to raiders, but he didn't know his mother could be such a bad ass to take on such a group.
"She strong and smart, sweet and kind," Gour said and tears welling up.
"Yeah, she was amazing," Herb agreed and patted Gour's arm in comfort. Herb noticed the sun's placement and knew it was going to get dark soon," Should we head back to the house and help my dad with dinner?"
"Gour like to help Mr. Caine and Gour want to help Mr. Herb," Gour said with some enthusiasm in his voice.
"I bet you're good at it too," Herb said with a smile and patted Gour's thick back.
"Gour the best!" he boasted.
The two returned to the farm house where Caine was in the last bit of prepping dinner. Gour actually ate inside but seemed to keep sneaking peeks towards Herb.
