Loraine the bravest of them all
by: Unknown
You were recently sent on a mission to observe how the expedition party your father sent to Gimunga was doing. You have heard of the recent affairs there and decided to head there yourself. You recently returned from Marina and was disgusted by the Adventurer's Guild. You would of destroyed the guild yourself, but you were advised to use a more subtle approach. So you agreed and sent two of your officers to go to Marina to find out more of the so called Adventurer's Guild. If the guild is guilty of the corruption you suspected then you order your men to shut it down by royal decree. You were disappointed that you couldn't go but you had to deal with this giant issue.
"Whatever is going on in Gimunga has to be resolved. Father sent Sir Matthew to observe the country and study it. Some men think with their fists. Lately father and mother are preparing for their anniversary. I hope this isn't just a ploy by the Witch of Weslone to take over the kingdom. *sigh* Worst of all I won't be able to participate in the Golden Sword Challenge this year."
You then walk to the stables and fetch your horse. By horse back it should take a day to get to the beanstalk. Before you go you hear your mother call out to you.
"Safe journeys my child and please be safe."
"I will mother. I'll make sure to return on time for your anniversary."
You hug your mother and ride off. You glance back and see your mother walk back inside the castle. Her complexion was rosy as usual and her voice as soothing as a bird's song. Your father is lucky to be married to such a remarkable woman. As you ride off you take in the sights. Soon enough you reach the town. It was nightfall by then. The village was far from Weslone, but it was quiet. You try to find an inn, but couldn't find one. You then decide to ask one of the villagers if they could spare you a room. You see farmhouse that happens to be near the beanstalk. You then approach the cottage near the barn. You guide your horse to the area and knock on the cottage door.
After a minute of waiting an elderly woman appears at the door. By the looks of it she must be a widow.
"What can I help you with deary?" the elder asked.
"Could you spare me a room milady? I've traveled all day and need somewhere to stay."
"Ah, I see. Come in your highness. You are welcome to stay for the night."
"Thank you."
You put your horse in the barn and then head inside. The elderly woman then gives you a bowl of soup.
"What brings you to these parts?"
"I'm on a mission to see why the expedition party is having trouble."
"You mean those men who came a week ago. They were terrible company. They criticized my cooking and called me an old hag."
Hearing that mad you angry, but not to the point of throwing a fit.
"Did they now? I'll have to talk to them. They should know better than to act that way. No wonder why they're having trouble."
"There was a young man who was generous. He apologized on his comrades' behavior."
"What was his name?"
"Zachery Winslow. He's pretty tall for a young lad and quite strong as well."
"I see. Thanks for this delicious soup"
"You're welcome dear."
You finish your soup and rest for the night. The next day...
