Chapter #9

Kale - Rust Match #1

by: W. Scarf Author IconMail Icon
The same door that Kale had entered through opens up moments later, and before him was a silhouetted female figure. Orange and yellow fluffy hide her body some, but not well enough as she strides closer into the light of the arena. As much as Kale wanted to give the respect of any mutual fighter, his eyes affix to the most noticeable feature to the fire-type's figure; the breasts bobbing with each step she takes until the Flareon positions herself opposite of the Grovyle at the field. While the Grovyle would've been wary of the type different here, especially considering his luck with other fire-types, he was taken aback by the orange furred tits that probably have only been rounded to how they were just like the curve of her hips; digested meals.

The Flareon had a rather disinterested expression on her face, seemingly aware of just where Kale's eyes were aimed at. She yawns and keeps a single hand to her bumped-up hip, keeping a leg leaned out in a sassy but bored posture. "Alright, let's get on with this. Start the countdown ref."

Kale has to snap back to reality for a moment from the speed of how things were going. She was ready just like that? It was as though no fear of losing or consequence crossed her mind. Kale nervously looks to the Bisharp that was to oversee the entire match as the 'referee' simply shakes his head. "Despite your experience fighter #2049, this is fighter #0497's first exhibition match. We will proceed with the fight once I have explained the rules to him."

The Flareon's face changes somewhat, but not for the better. Her brows lift in surprise as her dark eyes really take another look-over of Kale. She huffs, "...Seriously? You're pitting me against a newbie now? Talk about a free win."

Kale's brows flinch in with some concern. The Flareon spoke as if she had plenty of experience already. Was she a previous champ...returning? Kale could only swallow with nervousness now.

The Bisharp simply explains, "The Rust Exhibition is not meant to be balanced. It is simply a culling of the numbers to ensure we have professional fights for the crowds up on the surface next week." From the referee's own words, Kale glanced around. With darkness surrounding them with no sense of where the surface was, he wasn't surprised to discover that the exhibition matches are held underground. It's only until fighters make it to the Bronze League do they get the opportunity to fight in the outside arena surrounded by an overwhelming crowd of people up in the marbled stands.

"This ain't your first time in the GRIT?" The Grovyle asks of his opponent.

The curvy Flareon smiles finally in a more pleased manner, tucking a hand to the fluffy yellow mane of her neck while flicking her bushy tail about. "...Oh, am I 'champion material' to you~?" With indulgence to her prowess, the fire-type was eager for that type of flattery instead of just her looks.

"Uh..." The lizard didn't know how to properly answer that question. She certainly wasn't anyone he recognized of past winners, and she seemed rather young as well, so it couldn't have been long ago. Considering her trail of the question though, she definitely wasn't a champion.

The Bisharp explains however, "This is fighter #2049's fifth exhibition match. Her pace of battles has only gotten quicker in timing."

Kale feels that urge to swallow at nothing again. The Flareon on the other hand is more than happy to explain, "That's right, and I was promised my fifth match is gonna be my last one before I'm confirmed for the Bronze League. Your my ticket to stardom, lizard. I wouldn't blame you if you feel honored to get eaten by me~" The Flareon roams her tongue even with a circling lick of her lips, bending forward even to ensure Kale gets a tiny glimpse of her mouth.

The reptile irks his head back and growls, "...You're fucking crazy."

"You have to be if you're joining the GRIT~" The mammal purrs aloud as her hands begin to trail up from her knees to her thighs, rolling a playful tap along them. "Mmmh. You're #0497, right? Well if you just save me some time dear, I can make you a part of the #0001 if you catch my drift~"

"Like hell I would." Kale snarls. He grips his fists and readies his leaf-blades. To come all this way and just surrender? It wasn't Kale's style. The Grovyle knew he wanted to teach her a lesson to never underestimate a foe. "Sorry, but your fifth match is gonna be your last match today. Cause I'm moving forward, and I'm taking you with me, if you catch my drift."

The Flareon laughs aloud, "You're kidding, right? You realize I can torch you like a little weed in a heartbeat...yeah? I mean I figure you'd want your last moments to be enjoyable, but if you're so certain of yourself, don't say I didn't give you an easy way out~"

"Enough of this." The Bisharp interrupts, halting Kale from firing off any kind of comeback. "We are on a schedule, and if you two are so eager to eat one another, allow me to explain the ruleset for the rookie and you two can have at each other all you wish." The Flareon just smacks her lips and straightens back up, resuming her bored posture again. Kale on the other hand couldn't relax. He was too amped up now to prove this woman wrong.

Still, the referee explains, "The duel will initiate when I say 'Begin!' and motion my arm like this." He gestures a chop of his arm between the wide-open space of the two fighters. "You may use any means necessary to overwhelm your foe and devour them, but refrain from outright killing one another. The audience prefers to see live prey during the matches, and any attempts of non-consuming murder will have you disqualified from the tournament. You can use any tools you may have brought with you that have been approved by the board committee, as well as any skill of attack you possess. There is no boundary of the arena that is considering out of bounds within this room, but it is advised to keep the fighting here within this hexagon of dirt. The surrounding pitch darkness around you both will only be disadvantageous. Attempting to leave this room before the match has concluded will result in disqualification. The cap limit of the fight will be half an hour. If neither of you have eaten each other by thirty minutes, the match will be considered a draw, and neither of you will progress further in the Rust Exhibition. With that, if I detect collusion between the two of you in which neither of you are fighting to win, I will personally swallow both of you for permanent disqualification. Understand?"

The Flareon just rolls her eyes and groans, "Yeah, heard it the last three times. We good now?" She begins to posture herself in a better fighting position now, readying out her claws and leaning forward some. Kale can even witness a few embers trickling off her mane. There was a bit of a sway to her attack stance, where her breasts bob in place like that did before, but now her hips perk from side to side, wafting her thick fluffy tail about. The reptile tries to unfocus from them and readies his own stance as well.

"One last thing." Kale states aloud.

"Ugh. What?" The fire-type groans, annoyed.

If this was going to be a match of life and death, yet this Flareon acted as though this was just a normal day in the week for her. Kale had to at least know something about before the two would duke it out. He asks to his foe, "...What's your name?"

"Huh?" The mammal flicks an ear at the notion. "The hell does that matter? You don't need to know cause I'm just your predator for today."

"I'm Kale." The Grovyle states. "I think if I'm to die here, I should at least know who the person that bested me was."

Playing into her ego, she smiles at a notion like that. The Flareon brushes her tail from the flattery to at least muse, "...Hmmm, hmhm, I suppose that's fair. Fine. It's Catherine. But you can just call me 'Cat'. And this pussy cat's about to catch herself a pesky little lizard and move on to the Bronze League. Let's see if you actually taste like Kale, hm~?" The lizard himself was less than happy about her full response, but at least he had a name. Nothing to go off of though, but that's just how the cookie crumbles in this place. He'd have to use something else to figure out how to best her against the odds.

The Bisharp referee stands straight at the edge of the dirt patch, glancing between the two before stating as though they were being recorded, "Room A3, Rust Exhibition, Match #38. Fighter #0497 versus Fighter #2049." With that, his right arm lifts up in the air and holds. He gives another peering glance between either competitor before chopping abruptly down. "Begin!" He immediately skids back with great speed, leaving the entire dirt arena for Kale and Cat to have at each other.

"Thank you! Finally~!" Catherine mewls with delight before immediately sprinting in towards her prey. A trail of embers flows off from her fur as she closes the wild distance between the two faster than the Bisharp's own movement. Her mouth hangs open and her clawed fingers spread and aiming towards Kale. The sudden haste of the danger quickly ramps up against Kale's judgement, leaving him to either play evasively and keep distance, or risk being up close and defensive.
