Candy led the way out the back door with Kyle holding the leash of Amanda trailing behind the beautiful woman. He would never admit to Amanda but he had a fantasy about Candy and himself in starring roles. Back to reality he whispered to Amanda, “We should tell her what is going on and enlist her help. She thinks that we are looking for your dog form. Wouldn’t you like to come home with me at least? I can’t claim you are my dog she has seen you in your normal dog form.” Amanda tilted her head up to Kyle considering it. She hoped to return to her human state soon but returning home would at least be something. She shook her head yes.
Candy thought she heard something stopped turning around asking, “Did you say something?”
Kyle rubbing the back of his neck thinking about the best way to explain this to Candy, “Listen I know this is going to sound crazy but this bloodhound is Amanda. We had a medallion that allowed us to change our forms while we wore it. I know that my words won’t convince you but perhaps asking Amanda here questions that no dog could answer.”
Candy laughed thinking that Kyle was having fun with her but the earnest look on his face told her otherwise. Looking down at the bloodhound and again at Kyle. “You can’t be serious. No, you know what I will go along with this just to prove that you are wrong. Alright is your name Amanda?” She felt silly watching a bloodhound for signs of human intelligence. Shock came over her face when the dog nodded.
Candy composed herself. Not completely convinced she questioned, “What is two plus one equal?” She watched to make sure that Kyle didn’t give any signal to the dog pawed three marks on the ground. Looking to Kyle. Candy asked, “This isn’t some big trick on me is it?” The evidence before her challenged her knowledge of the natural world.
Kyle took hold of her hand while reassuring her, “This is no trick. I can only imagine how hard this is to believe. I need you to help us look for the medallion. Amanda lost it out in the woods.” Amanda glared upset with the physical contact. She barked at them to remind them of her presence. They broke their hands connection looking down at Amanda.
“Okay as incredible as it sounds I am starting to believe you. It will probably take time for me to be fully convinced but I am willing to help you look for this medallion. Do you know where you lost it Amanda?” Candy asked feeling stupid for questioning a dog. Amanda responded with a negative shake of the head. “Can you get us in the area?” Amanda nodded her head.
Candy gestured to the woods saying, “Lead the way.” With that they proceeded into the woods with Amanda pulling the leash snuffling along the ground trying to find her own trail. She hoped that the trail wasn’t washed away with the rains. Kyle and Candy followed the determined hound dog.
