As he was about to make a wish, a thought struck him. He'd felt a surge of happiness when he thought he had become a father, so...
"I wish I was the one happily married with kids," he wished, and felt the effect of the medallion wash over him.
When he opened his eyes again, he felt a similar sensation from his earlier trip, from the Lakers-Celtics game. He was in a woman's body again. He looked around. The room he was sitting in was a teenage girls room, and eerily familiar. "When am I? And who am I?" he wondered out loud. From the look of the posters on the walls, he guessed early 80's. A nagging suspicion grew in him. Could it be...? He got up and opened the door. Yes. This was his grandparents house. That had to mean... He was his own mother?!
He ran down the stairs, to the kitchen, to check the calendar, where he found his grandmother, some 35 years younger, having her morning cup of coffee. "Morning, Samantha," she said to him.
"Morning, mom," he replied back. "Um, mom, what date is it today?"
His grandmother - her mother? - thought for a moment before answering. "14th of June." Tyler immediately recognized the date. It was the date his uncle had died. Of course, this was several years before Tyler had been born. His uncle, his mothers older brother, his fathers best friend, had been in a fatal accident on his motorcycle. He was just supposed to drive down to Tyler's fathers house, five minutes away, and for some reason he'd skipped putting on his helmet. It had devastated both his parents.
Just then, his uncle shouted from the entrance. "I'm going down to Dan's. I'll be back home for dinner."
Tyler turned around and ran after him, picking up his helmet as he got outside. "Hey, you doofus! Don't forget this! And tell Dan I said hi." Tyler knew that his parents were already dating by this time.
His uncle looked a bit irritated. "It'll ruin my hair," he pouted. "I've got a date tonight."
"Well, your date won't be very happy if you show up dead! Please," Tyler said. "For me?" He tried to make the biggest doe-eyes he could, and his uncles face softened to a smile.
"Okay, sis," he said. Tyler watched him drive away, helmet on.
-------------------------------------
Less than 10 minutes later, the phone rang. Tyler picked it up, and heard his fathers voice in the other end of the line. "Samantha! It's Dan. I'm calling about John. He's been in an accident." Tyler found himself holding his breath, surprisingly fearful for the destiny of someone he'd never actually met. But his mother loved her brother, and... if he was in his mothers body, that probably affected him? "He's... he's okay. He has to go to the hospital for a check-up, but the paramedics say his helmet saved him. Thank you... he told me you came out to him with his helmet. I think maybe you saved his life."
-------------------------------------
In the end, it turned out that John was fine. The hospital wanted to keep him overnight for observation, and Dan had come around to Tyler's grandparents house to pick up Samantha - in Dan's parents car - to go visit him. Seeing this young version of his father, or rather, suddenly feeling the emotions Samantha felt towards him, was a bit unsettling. They ended up staying with John until quite late, and Dan dropped Samantha off back home just before midnight. "See you tomorrow, I hope?" he said as he stole a kiss, sending butterflies through Tyler's stomach. "Of course," he said back, before quickly untangling himself to get away from the truly weird situation. He quickly went upstairs to Samantha's room, and fell asleep, exhausted.
