"What do you think honey? Should we go hardwood or marble tile for the entryway?" Mike asked looking at the next piece of decor that will be magically changed.
"Hmm, marble's nice but a nice hardwood flooring will fit in better with the rest of the house and even the outside porch."
"We could just make the porch into marble with a wish?"
Denise giggled, "Sounds interesting, but that one might draw some suspicion from the neighbors, I wish we had a finished hardwood floor in the entryway." With a simple arm movement and a nod of your head you felt your magic change the floor from an old worn down carpet to a beautiful brown hardwood floor.
"Nice work Mike, I think that's enough for the day. I think for all your hard work you deserve a special reward. Who would Micki rather see tonight? Denise? Denis? Something in between? Or something entirely new?"
"Why not all of the above?" Mike said as the medallion at the moment clinked to the new floor and he kissed his wife. Denise picked up the medallion but before she could absorb the doorbell rung. Both Mike and Denise looked at the door in shock, they were not expecting guests. "Quick, hide!" Denise said but Mike didn't need to be told twice. He thought about where the best hiding place could be but before he could move his feet he felt his body become lighter than air and he found he was being sucked into Denise's compact aka his genie lamp. Denise saw this and quickly grabbed the compact and medallion and put them in her purse.
Even though Mike was in the compact he could still hear what was going on outside of it. He heard the door open and heard Denise say a little loudly to make sure he heard her, "Trevor! What a surprise, it's so good to see you."
This was a surprise to Mike too. Even though Trevor was his best man when he married Denise, he hadn't seen him in almost a year. Even though they could have told Trevor about the medallion years ago they kept it a secret so there was no way they could come clean about his current genie situation. Although now that Mike thought about it, Trevor had met Micki once or twice over the years without knowing it was him. If he remembered correctly, and confirmed to him by 'Dennis' after they had a guy talk, Trevor had a bit of a crush on Micki.
"Hey Denise! I heard about your and Mike's recent success. On the best seller list! And it looks like you guys are already putting that best seller money to good use."
"Oh we just got this finished today, you're lucky you came by when you did it was such a mess just a few hours ago." Denise said with a slight nervous tick to her voice, but Trevor didn't notice.
"I was hoping that I could take you guys out to celebrate your success. I'm in town on business and could resist the chance to see two of my favorite people."
"Well I'm glad to heard that but I'm sorry to say that Mike is...away working on research on his next book."
"Damn, well I guess Mike didn't get successful by laying about all day. But just because Mike's not hear doesn't mean I still can't take you out to a nice dinner. What do you say?"
"Oh I don't know Trevor, I'm really tired from the renovations."
"All the more reason to relax, come on, I wish you'd let me take you to dinner." As soon as Trevor said this Mike felt a small surge of energy and instantly Denise said in a slightly jerky tone almost as though she didn't expect to say it herself, "I'd love to join you for dinner,"
"Great, I'll get the car started,"
"I'll be there in a second I just need to go to my room and..."
