Through her own investments, knowing the right people, and her penchant for clawing her opponent’s faces, Catwoman is the mob boss of Gotham City. She’s in charge of both the Maroni and Falcone families, and has more money and power than she rightfully knows what to do with. So she doesn’t really need to be Catwoman anymore. Whether or not she’s a benevolent boss and is ultimately good for Gotham, nobody knows.
But one thing is for sure, and that’s that Selina’s days of jumping from rooftop to rooftop are over, and so are her days of squeezing into that tight leather outfit.
—in Curse of the Bastet!, Catwoman does what she does best, and that’s steal cat-themed jewels and priceless works of art.
Onesuch act of larceny happens to involve the Statue of Bastet, in where Catwoman steals a small golden cat of Egyptian origin fabled to be cursed. Selina isn’t one for mythology, and certainly isn’t afraid of curses, so she goes ahead with the plan anyway. However, Selina soon finds herself gaining unexplained amounts of weight.
Could the curse be true? Selina had best find out before everyone starts calling her Fatwoman…
