Becca entered the lab, deeply relieved by the solitude she had found. During scheduled lab time, she had struggled to get any work done, whether the cheer squad was ridiculing her, or she was feeling objectified by the football team, staying on task was a nearly impossible goal. She laid out her textbook right beside the small glowing disk, noticing the device after searching the table of contents. She picked up the metallic desk, and looked around the room, there was nothing she could see that would be controlled by this simple device. Out of curiosity, she depressed the button, and received a mild shock, causing her to drop the device on the floor, cracking it open. "What the fuck kind of prank bullshit is this?" she asked herself aloud. With rage building up, she stomped on the device, completely obliterating it. "Fucking assholes." she muttered, the one thing she knew for sure was that whoever left that disc behind, was indeed, an asshole. She went about catching up on her lab work late into the evening.
By the time Becca was ready to head home, it was dark out. She had always loved being in vacant public spaces at night, it felt positively post-apocalyptic. With her music blaring in her earbuds, she remained unbothered by anyone else that would happen to share the space with her this late at night, usually a few ragged grad students would shamble around like zombies after consecutive all-nighters, only adding to the apocalyptic vibe. Becca rounded a secluded corner, only to bump right into Marcus, the school's star quarterback. "Sorry..." Becca half-heartedly apologized and began to move on, blissfully unaware of what misogynistic bullshit Marcus was spewing, thanks to her music. Her left earbud was yanked out of her ear suddenly and violently by Marcus. "Hey, you listen when I'm fucking talking to you, you bitch" he berated Becca, who turned to face him, her eyes shooting daggers. She saw that Marcus had spilled his coffee all over his letterman jacket. "You think that's my fault?" Becca smiled, "From the smell of your breath, you need to lay off the pre-coffee whiskey". Marcus had spent the evening drinking with his buddies, and had come to the school late in a drunkenly motivated attempt to study that would have ended with him asleep in the library, atop an unopened textbook. Becca turned to walk away, when Marcus got a firm grip on her arm. "Let go of me dude" Becca tried to stay brave while reaching for her bear spray with her free arm, which she realized it was in her other bag, and true panic set in. "You ruined my jacket, and you're gonna have to set it right one way or another" Marcus threatened, while pulling her closer. "Dude, I said LET GO" Becca yelled as she instinctively grabbed his hand, and something unexpected happened.
Only Becca was sober enough to comprehend what happened at first, in front of her eyes, Marcus had shrunken what looked like 2 feet in a mere moment, before she realized that she had seemingly grown taller, somehow with her clothes. With her hand still gripping Marcus' she felt the urge to take more, she watched as the once intimidating football star dwindled down to 3 feet tall, with Becca towering over him at almost 8 feet. she released her grip, and Marcus finally clued in. "What the fuck did you do!?" he began shouting "You better fix this or you're fucking dead!"
