This choice: At doctor Sanaka's office... • Go Back... Dr Genzo Sanaka's office was simple 10 meters (~32 ft) by 6 meters (~20 ft) room with a wood desk, a pair of bookcase full of books, a few flowerpots, some surrealist painting on walls, the owner certificates, naturally, 3 comfortable leather chairs (2 for visitors) and some floor lamp. The wall behind the doctor was actually a full length glass givin a nice view of South side of the city.
"The doctors are checking the imaging results of your cornea. It shouldn't take long, just as usual. But I don't think we'll have bad surprises. You seems very well." explained Sanaka to Serenity, standing stoic on her chair.
"Meanwhile ..." the doctor started to rummage on a stack of papers on his left in his desk, and on some drawers,
"I would like you to answer me some questions. Nothing complicated, just the regular things...."
Dr. Sanaka began to asked her formal routinely simple questions that she answered quickly, mainly about any visual effects she could have experienced, any form of nausea, unusual tiredness in the eyes or difficulties to see at long or very close distances, etc ...
After 3 minutes, it looks like that once again, there was no problem to notify, without surprises actually.
The protocoles ended, Dr. Sanaka discussed with Serenity :
- So, Serenity. How have you been these last months ?
- Pretty nice ! I've a lot of fun recently since I'm on holidays.
- Haha, glad to hear you say that ! Did you make some friends since the surgery ? I know how it has been hard for you to keep relationship with your disease. Hopefully, all this is ended, that's what I hope everytime you come here for check-up, even though I feel that everything is okay. But I know the return to a normal life isn't easy when you spent so much time of your life in hospital. ", he said to her.
- And I don't say that because I spend my own life working in one of them." he added as a joke, smiling at her.
- Yes, I got many friends now, thanks to my brother. He's so nice with me. I'm so happy to have him. I don't know what I would be if he wasn't there ... I may have already talked to you about them. Yugi, Mai, Téa ... And also Duke !
- Oh yes ! Duke Devlin, right ? That young boy who created that game, the "Dungeon Rice Monster".
Serenity laughed,
- It's actually "Dungeon Dice Monster", doctor. And yes, it's him. There is also Tristan.
- That tall boy who is with you. You two look like very close, isn't it ?
- Yes. He's a close friend of my brother Joey, but he spend more time with me than with him now, actually.
She laughed again.
- I see. Are you two in a relationship ?
Serenity looked confused.
- In a relationship ? You mean, like lovers ?
- Yes. I could see quickly in his eyes that this boy seems to care for you. It wouldn't be surprising. You're a beautiful girl Serenity, and a very nice person too. It would be a surprise if a sweet girl like you doesn't already met a good boy."
The girl blushed and smile.
- Ahah. You're always so nice with me doctor. Tristan is so sweet with me, but I don't think he love me. Though, maybe ... maybe it would be nice if he does ... I don't know ... Tristan is a really nice guy. I like Tristan. But I think i'm not really his type of girl anyway. His room is full of posters, images and books of tall busty strong women."
Serenity started to look at her feet.
- Tristan is my best friend, and I think I'm just his friend too. I don't think there is anything more ...
Sanaka laughed.
- Ahah, you're so cute Serenity. You make me think of my niece. She's a very beautiful young woman, and attract a lot of boys. But she's completely oblivious of it, and most of those poor boys won't even dare to try.
You were physically blind before, but it seems you're still a little when it came to boy, uh ?
The doctor gave her a wink and added.
- Women can be complicated, but so can be boy too. Don't make too quick conclusion on boys feelings. They're proud, Tristan probably is, and they won't share easily their feelings when it come to deep emotions. But I'm sure you would be surprised if you asked him.
Serenity blushed again, not saying a word.
- Boys like and dream of big star girls, but they also love sweet and polite girl like you. Never doubt of it.
They exchanged smiles, silently... Then, he added.
- Oh, that made me think ... We still have this excess money your brother Joey gave us to pay your surgery ! I nearly forgot to talk you about it.
- Oh yes, those ¥3,000,000 [an : About $27,959 US] he win at the Pegasus' Duelist Kingdom Tournament ! I think Joey overestimate the price of the surgery, ahah. Even though, it was still expensive ...
- "Yes, you're right. The money he gave us by the time was frankly too much ! I don't know what people have in mind, but, as expensive surgery can be, it's never as expensive as ¥3,000,000, even for experimental operations, thanks god !"
He laughed.
- Anyway, we don't know what to do of this nearly ¥2,500,000 remaining. Your brother Joey told us that it was entirely your money now. So it's up to you. But we can't kept that money. Unless you want to invest your money here, of course.
- I don't know what to do of all this money..., Serenity said.
- It's okay, no pressure. Just to let you know that we don't want to keep all this money your brother gave us by mistake that is entirely yours in the first place. Just ... think about it and tell me what we have to do with it, if we send you back all of it or if you want to make a donation or something to this hospital. Either way, there is no problem my sweet lady.
Serenity seemed lost in thought ...
- Well ! Let's go see doctors Watanabe, Ring and Fushida to check those images results of your eyes now. Maybe we can give you some as souvenirs.
