"Ugh. Enough! Enough! Enough!" Chie cried in frustration.
She rose up off her bed, grinding her teeth in frustration. The math book sat there, open to the latest chapter, its pages filled with incomprehensible notations and questions that had begun to blur together.
"Stupid studying! Stupid homework! Stupid brain!" Chie growled, taking her frustration out with a series of kicks aimed at her nearby punching bag.
The thin teenage girl paused a moment after the flurry of motion, breathing heavily and heart pounding. This was absolutely the worst thing she had ever experienced. Bring on berserk shadows and creepy serial killers any day! Her real opponent, the unbeatable final boss in her own personal hell of a shonen anime, was most certainly the incomprehensible school work her teachers mercilessly bombarded her with. What was worse...from what she had heard about college, mathematics only became more intricate and complicated from here. She was facing an unbeatable enemy, and this wasn't even their final form!
With a dejected sigh Chie slumped down in her chair. She'd never particularly cared for her studies this much in the past. She was well aware that academics were her weak point, and had been content to lean heavily on her long time friend Yukiko for tutoring to help her scrape through the tests when all else failed. But that of course had all been before she had met a certain Yu Narukami, before her whole world had been turned absolutely upside down with the introduction of the TV world...and of course before her self image had been rather mercilessly torn apart by her mocking inner self. Ever since Chie had been determined to stop relying (abusing, really, if her shadow was to be believed) her friend and become self sufficient! Not to mention she had a new goal and purpose in life- to join the police academy and officially protect the innocent as she had behind the scenes as a member of the Investigation Team.
So here she was, new and improved self sufficient Chie, protector of the innocent...slamming her head against the brick wall that was her math homework! Life was incredibly unfair sometimes!
"Okay. Forget this. I've been at this way too long and I'm not getting ANYWHERE anymore. Its okay to take a break for the day, right? Let my poor brain recharge just a little?" Chie asked the empty room.
Okay. But what kind of break?
Chie paused, then popped on her laptop. She found her answer in a listing of her local movie theater.
"Naked Fist III: Naked Fury! Holy crap! I had no idea they were making a new one!!"
Chie had her mission. Now the only question was....
