Nicola, the Wilko worker with eight children and a ninth on the way has discovered she has a power to switch people's body parts. Practising at home on her family, she has since mastered this power and she can swap without other people noticing. She walked into work one Tuesday evening and was greeted enthusiatically by Liz as always. "Hiya Nikki." The evening supervisor smiled as she stood back and watched Aaron off-loading a pallet full of compost from the delivery truck.
"Hiya Liz, you okay?" Was Nicola's polite response.
"Oh not bad thanks, the knee's aching a bit but I'll live." Liz sighed, lifting her right leg momentarily. She'd had an operation on it a while ago and bad weather always made it ache. Both women looked forlornly at the rain pouring down outside the store.
"Let's hope this clears up huh?" Nicola muttered.
"Amen to that." Liz nodded.
Nicola then made her way upstairs slowly and took off her wet coat, giving it a shake before hanging it up in the locker room. She wasn't too wet, since her husband had dropped her off in his car at the bottom of the street, but still... Entering the tea room the familiar faces were there, plus Elizabeth, who was taking a well-earned break from some paperwork in her office. In her black trouser suit, white blouse and black leather high heels Elizabeth made everyone else in their red polo shirts and black work trousers look distinctly underdressed. Once the greetings were out of the way, Nicola surveyed the room with eagerness. She was tempted to start using her power right there on her unsuspecting co-workers, but part of her wanted to wait until the shift had started and everyone was on the shop floor. But she also knew she might not see Elizabeth again for the rest of the evening.
"Hey Nikki, how's the unborn?" Andrea engaged Nicola in conversation, distracting her somewhat. Nicola took a moment to glance at Andrea, then took a look down and caressed her swollen tummy.
"Oh, fine thanks. And how's your family?" Nicola responded, asking about Andrea's husband.
"They have their useful moments." Andrea chuckled. But seeing that Nicola wasn't really interested in their little chat, she then started talking to Helen. Meanwhile, Nicola made up her mind what to do.
