The days pass slowly. There's nothing for you to do during the daylight hours, while the goddess above is awake and moving, so you take to sleeping during that time, and devoting your energies to night-time activities.
The danger is great. At night, the macro-fauna is far more fearsome, not only Trevorina-sized predators but also stalking beasts like foxes, and great winged monsters like owls. Your nerves are on edge at all times, and you spend so much time moving slowly and carefully, withdrawing to shelter at the slightest sign of danger, that your progress is agonisingly slow. You scratch a bare minimum of supplies from the land, and some nights go by where the noises of the world keep your head down completely, leaving you unable to gather anything at all.
It's miserable, terrifying and draining.
In exchange for this nightmare existence? In the twilight time between your shift and Tara's, you share time together, where each of you can discuss your recent adventures. While you can convey nothing except the moments of agonising struggle as you evade death at the claws of an unseen creature, the giantess speaks of the wonders of nature, cute animals and beautiful plants that she has examined. In many ways, the pair of you could be seeing the same things from different persepctives; a playful critter to her is a dangerous beast to you!
Still, the joy and excitement in her eyes as she talks is captivating, and for her part she does listen with rapt attention at your own tales. "You're so brave," she says at times, as if that made up for the fact that she is the one forcing you into this life.
You share meals at these times, and there is little that you contribute, nothing much that you can gather compared to the vast feast she can hold on the tip of her finger. Yet each scrap you display fills her with glee, excited to see the results of your hunting, your gathering.
Five days in, she confides in you.
"I've been keeping notes of your adventures," she confesses. "I worry that you won't come back one time. Also, I'd like to get some footage of you in action. I'll keep back, to avoid distrubing things, but I simply have to see you at work!"
