"That's not too far," Tara smiles, flipping open a small plastic container. "I can get you there in time."
She packs the container with a hefty wad of tissue, and it's not difficult to determine where you'll be staying during the journey. But other mysteries need to be solved:
"How are you going to get there? You got a car?"
"Hey," she says with a wink, "you've got your secret shrinking shit, let a girl keep a few secrets of her own, huh?"
Then she's tipping her finger toward the little bed she's made, and you take a moment to hope that you truly can trust this amazing, colossal woman. With a breath, you find that you can, and throw your third of an inch self forward.
The tissue is a lot more comfortable than you would have thought, and you give Tara a wave and a thumbs up. She smiles and blows a kiss, then her own thumb comes up, smoothly closing the lid with a click and leaving you alone with your thoughts.
The journey jostles you only slightly, such care this gentle giantess taking! You snuggle deep into the tissue while you run over possibilities in your head. Will this other woman hold you in the same regard? She no doubt maintained the online connection with you due to your wit and intelligence, but surely she must have been looking forward to meeting a big, strong man who could take her in his arms? Not an insect-sized loser who couldn't even save them from a spider!
At least you're not trying to appeal to them to start a physical relationship, you tell yourself. This is merely giving them the peace of mind they deserve, showing them the person you really are, and letting them down gently. For all the creatures you've met in your adventure, she will be the most terrifying. You'll look a goddess in the eye and tell her how you strung her along, hoping that she can find it in her humungous heart to forgive you, and not just immediately swat you.
You have to pray that Tara will be a decent wing-woman, and at least save you from being crushed by the woman that has a crush on you!
Your mind by no means any calmer, you are jerked to reality by Tara's thumb popping the latch with a simple squeeze, your surroundings subjected to the strength of the woman for a moment, the thick plastic walls deforming at the pressure before the lid finally gives up. You roll as it tilts, exiting into fresh air as you thud into Tara's great palm.
Finding your feet quickly, you also find yourself overwhelmed. From the calm of the forest glade to the heaving masses of humanity, it's a rush. Chatter from mouths dozens of times bigger than your entire body thunders through the air, over a droning background of traffic, and the cacophony of some radio-broadcast music.
The smells of the masses are nearly as bad, the sweat and deodorant of the giants quite distinct from the pleasant scents of nature. Cooked meat and coffee is there as well, foods that you haven't tasted for months, bringing water to your mouth.
All this, and the visuals too! Beyond the fingers of Tara, beings even greater than her pass back and forth, an incredible variety of giants of every possible appearance, each a devastating force.
It takes a few moments to realise that Tara has spoken to you, a whisper that you have to strain to hear over the hubbub. Turning and raising your eyes faceward, you can finally let it slice through the sensations squirming at your every sense.
"Well? Do you see her anywhere?"
You don't to be honest, but you walk to the palm's edge, clinging to a finger, and in a sudden moment the crowd parts, revealing a back table where a familiar face sits, alert and looking to the doorway at every newcomer. Yes, that's her all right, now blown up to monstrous proportions, already angry with you.
You point her out, and take a breath as Tara strides toward your destiny, the giant woman you know as:
