You step to the front of your compartment and look out towards the opposite end of the aisle. You find yourself staring down several shelves of baby supplies. Bottles. Strollers. Toys. Baby food. You name it, it's there...except for one thing. You turn your attention off to the side, towards the aisle your package is located on, and your fears are confirmed. You can see the pudgy legs of a towering baby printed onto the front of a nearby box, skewed though your view of the box is. The real deal is of course much larger, something you're painfully aware of from your experience with the girl from earlier, but this is still a bad sign. More diaper bags and boxes no doubt line the shelf, for you are indeed located on a diaper aisle, your container dangling from a hook, clearly there to entice kids to beg their parents to buy you. You're on sale as a toddler toy.
It doesn't take long for the first rumblings of a customer to arrive, and the sight you are greeted with is awe inspiring. A woman with dirty blond hair that goes down to her shoulders in a deliberately messy style, clad in black thong sandals, a pink skirt, and a red floral-pattern croptop designed to emphasize her bust. This lady isn't your primary concern, however. It's the companions she has with her. You see a pair of blond-haired boys seated in the bed of the shopping cart, each looking to be about two, each clad in polka-dotted disposable diapers, sneakers, and t-shirts, one themed around a dinosaur, one themed around a whale. Just when you thought you'd seen the last of giant babies , now you're dealing with two of them!
The rumbling of the kart grows louder as it draws closer and closer, the motions gradually grinding to a halt. The toddlers are sitting down just below you. The woman for her part is a bit off to your right, browsing through the diaper packs on sale carefully. You look down at the toddlers fearfully. One of the two is sucking at his thumb , gazing up at you, while the other is already turned around, his attention focused on the toys on display in the toy aisle. The thumb-sucking child gazes at you in silent introspect, not quite sure what to make of you. For now the child seems only barely interested in you . If you just remain still, he might not beg his mom to purchase you.
On the one hand, you REALLY do not want to wind up in the hands of these toddlers. The girl from before never actually became aware of your presence...but these boys would be aware of you right off the bat. You also don't want to suffer the indignity of becoming property.
On the other hand, you cannot stay here forever. You will eventually starve in this package if you just hold out forever and it is very likely that any other potential buyer who would actually pay your aisle any heed is probably going to be much like the woman you're dealing with now. That is, joined by some kid who actually needs to use diapers...and you probably won't be able to just hide out here forever without SOME child deciding to beg for your purchase...
