You look around and determine that the noise you heard was just a bird, you spot what looks like a house off in the distance. You use your rifle scope to get a better look, the house looked a little run down and showed no signs of anybody living there recently. You make your way towards the house, after an hour of walking you get close enough to the house that you can see the front door had been ripped of the hinges and all the windows smashed. You are starting to have second thoughts about entering the house so you turn to leave, suddenly you feel like someone just hit you in the chest with a sledge hammer, knocking the breath out of your lungs and sending you flying backwards at least three feet before coming to a stop.
You attempt to breath, but your chest hurt so much that it seemed impossible, still you manage to draw a small breath of air. You unzip your vest and check yourself and find that the round had not passed through your vest's ballistic plates, but you felt an excruciating pain on your left side, just below the nipple. "Yep thats a broken rib" you say through clenched teeth, suddenly you hear the sound of footsteps making their way toward you.........
