This choice: You've shrunk to the size of bugs • Go Back... You do a double take as your vision goes just past the professor and you see an oversized couch shooting hundreds of feet up into the air as well as a massive house-sized device smoking in the distance. You've been shrunk to an unbelievably small size along with the professor. Sato starts pacing back and forth going "What the hell are we going to do now? God, i'm so stupid! I knew i should have double checked the schematics..." You stand up and acknowledge your surroundings more, feeling the thick, oversized carpet strands beneath your feet that make it hard to walk. Focusing on the air around you and seeing tiny, microscopic flecks of dirt that no normal eye could see. And then there was the professor, cute as ever, now just an inch or so tall. Seeing her body match up with the gigantic surroundings was more of a fantasy come true than anything you've ever experienced. But right now, you had to tend to her emotions and try and find a way to get back to normal. You look at the gun laying down on the floor, still at full size and say "Hey, why don't we try and use the gun again? What's the worst that can happen?" Sato looks at you like you've just grown a second head and says "The worst that could happen?! Look at us! The worst that could happen is one or both of us shrinks down into nothingness and dies on the subatomic level! I'm not touching that gun again until i figure out what caused the glitch in the first place." Defeated, you ask the flustered professor "Well then... what do you think we should do? We can't just stay here and hope it wears off, we need to do something, right?" The professor takes off her glasses, which shrunk with her, and cleans them. Very studiously and methodically she says "Well... There's only one thing we can do right now. We're too small to even activate the machine again, let alone fix it. We're going to need to get some help from somebody in the building. We should make our way into the hallway and see who's out there."
You are actually impressed with how ballsy this plan is, considering how easy it would be for one of the giant people outside the room to unknowingly crush you out of existence. "Are you sure we should do this? It seems incredibly dangerous." Sato starts walking and says "I know... but what other choice to we have? Now are you coming or not?" You give up the arguing and immediately walk up next to the professor, who seems to be fighting back a mixture of rage, disappointment, and fear all rolled into one. You try to diffuse the situation by having a casual conversation. Hell, just getting across the carpet is going to take a few minutes since you're both so small. "Not how you thought your first test would go, huh?" Sato just sighs and says "I should have paid more attention to the data. There must have been some miscalculation i passed over. I was just so excited to be able to test the device and get the preliminary results conclusive and ready to go... I shouldn't have put myself in this situation to begin with, but i'm truly sorry for getting you involved in this. You must hate me for making you small like this." She goes to wipe an apologetic tear from her eye and You know she's vulnerable, and extremely upset at herself and her situation, so instead of making things worse, you decide to be perfectly honest with her. What the hell, right? "Actually, Professor... I've always wondered what it would be like to be shrunken down like this." She stops crying and looks at you puzzled "R...Really? No, you're just saying that to make me feel better." You look her right in the eye and let the truth spill out. "No, I mean it. In one of your classes, you first talked about miniaturization and how it could someday be possible to shrink living matter down to a fraction of it's size. I fantasized about exploring rooms at the size we're at right now, seeing everything from this perspective. And... it's lived up to everything I imagined it could be like! This is an incredible breakthrough, Professor!" She takes a look around and sniffs up what remaining tears she had, before nodding and smiling. "You know what... this is actually pretty amazing. I... I never observed our surroundings but you're right! We're seeing something that, as far as we know, nobody else has seen before! A real life perspective of something other than a human! If only i'd remembered my phone or something, we could have taken pictures! Not to mention called somebody to pick us up off the damn floor" You immediately get a rush of excitement as you search through your pockets. You have your phone! Maybe you could call for help, even at this size! Sato moves in close to you with a huge smile of hope as you immediately press on your phone... only to see the battery icon flashing mockingly in your faces. You both let out a disappointed groan and you put your phone in your pocket as Sato puts her hands on her hips and stops, looking at the gigantic door that stands before you. You are more focused on the space beneath the door, and before you could say what you were thinking, the teacher next to you says it for you. "God... we're so fucking small, we can fit under the door without even bending over." You grab her hand and say in your sternest movie-actor voice "Let's do this."
She just nods and you two make your way under the door, walking into the light from the hallway on the other side. As soon as you cross the divider between Sato's blue carpet and the hallway's clashing red, Sato stands in front of you and says "Okay, I think we should try and make our way down to the east end of the hall. That's where a few of the professors live with their families. I think i'd like to avoid the students at this point, if anything just so I have one less person who knows about the experiment that doesn't need to." You nod in approval and she pulls you by the hand saying "We should be fine as long as we stay close to the wall. Follow me." Sato barely has time to spin around before a huge object slams down in front of you two, causing you to fall backwards from the force. The professor's high pitched scream rings in your ears as you look up to see a colossal shoe planted firmly in the ground! If you had taken just a few steps further into the hallway, the giant who's foot that belongs to could have smushed you both into minuscule red stains on the hardwood! The professor runs to you, embracing you tightly out of fear and breathing heavily. "My god... i wasn't... wasn't expecting that..." You both look at the giant footwear, and two things become very clear to you. First of all, using the shoe as a measuring stick, you both can't be any more than half an inch tall. Secondly, even with just that one step, you can feel a wave of perfumed air all around you. The shoe belongs to a girl. And when you finally gather your thoughts, you realize just what type of shoes they are... and what type of woman you'll be dealing with... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
