You pick up a knife and pull it out of it's sheath. It seems normal enough but there are some scratches along the blade that could be writing... or it could be from use. At first you wonder what could be magical about a knife, but then you stop and consider what it might just be. You look around to see if anyone is watching then you gently apply the knife's sharp edge to your pinky finger and apply just a small amount of pressure...
Your pinky finger easily falls off onto the counter. You can barely contain your squeal of excitement as you see that the cut is covered in skin and you can still feel and move your detached finger! You pick up your finger and try to put it back on, but it won't stick. You shrug and go back to the counter to talk to the proprietor.
"I found what I want. Is this one okay?"
The proprietor smiled and said "Oh, yes. That one. It can be quite fun and I'm sure you'll enjoy it!"
"Um, one question though. I figured out how to cut myself with it, but how do I... well," you hold up your detached pinky. "How do I put myself back together?"
The proprietor frowned. "Ah, well. That is the problem with that piece. You see, you have to..."
