She's invited to join Weezer?

The gang were sitting around talking about magical stuff, when suddenly a phone rang. Ring ring ring! Who could it be? On the other end was an American man, or at least he sounded American. He was speaking Japanese but his accent was pretty obvious and he messed up a couple words.
"Hey, uh, is this Homura Akemi? From Japan?"
Homura was hesitant to answer. This strange man from another country, another continent, somehow knew her name! She was about to hang up when her "good friend" recognized the voice.
"Is that Rivers Cuomo from Weezer?"
Homura looked dumbfounded. What's a "Uiza?"
"That's my favorite band!"
"Uh... right, mine too." She lied, not wanting her love to be disappointed. How didn't she know this? She'd been watching her for so long yet she didn't know what a "Uiza" was!
The man on the phone continued...
"Yeah, it says here that you won a contest to be the new Scott. Uh, your friend seems to know me a lot better than you do, though. I'm sure she'd be excited seeing you onstage at our next concert."
When did she enter a contest to be a "Scott" in this "Uiza?"
