Pair of threes. Not the worst hand you've ever had, but you don't think it's going to be good enough to keep you from having the worst hand. So with a wish and a hope, you discard everything but your pair.
You end up drawing the Ace of Spades, the Ace of Hearts and the Four of Clubs.
Lucky draw, but you're not complaining!
Lara ends up having the lowest hand, and Sam gives you a sullen glare, as if she blames you personally for the great Lara Croft losing a hand of poker.
"It's just one hand," you manage to mumble, and Lara intervenes.
"Of course it is," she says, then gives Sam a pointed look. "And we take our losses with our wins." With that, Lara takes off one of her tank tops, then looks over at Sam. Sam looks down at the table for a few seconds and then, in a huff, takes off her jacket.
Maybe things will get better, now that the first loss is out of the way, you think. And Lilith and Zoey kept quiet, so maybe that will calm Sam down.
Hoping, but not really believing, that Sam's mood won't spoil the evening, you take your next five cards.
