This choice: they don't think to check it and later empty the contents into the bin. • Go Back...Chapter #4Into the Trash Can by: Unknown Mary and your mom search for you for a good hour and a half, but never once think to check the vacuum cleaner. It must have slipped their minds. Eventually, they give up for now and continue having their pleasant little discussion, sitting on a couch right outside the closet. Meanwhile, you have been stuck inside the vacuum cleaner for nearly five hours, crushed, compressed, and dirty. There wasn't even enough space for you to reform and get help or escape. You were completely at the mercy of your mom and girlfriend, who were totally oblivious.
A few minutes later, your mom finally remembered about the vacuum cleaner.
"That's right! I forgot about the vacuum cleaner!" Your mom exclaimed. Mary perked up, and so did you.
"Oh! You think he might be in there?" She wondered. This was it! This was your chance!
"No silly." Your mom brushed off the idea, ruining your chances of her finding you. "I forgot to empty out all the dirt and dust the Jack must have vacuumed up right before he vanished.
"Could he be inside the vacuum Miss Harper?" Mary inquired.
"No. Jack would have called out for help if he was in there. We passed by the vacuum quite a few times."
"I guess you're right." Mary sighed, giving up the topic. Your mom stood up, and walked over to the closet, opening the door. She lifted up the vacuum cleaner and pulled it out, shaking you around inside. Your mom detatched the bag from the vacuum cleaner, and held it up for Mary to see.
"You see dear?" Your mom giggled. "Do you really think Jack would be in here?" She jostled the bag for extra emphasis, throwing you around painfully inside.
"Well..." Mary didn't quite know what to say.
"I could search through here to show you, but I don't want to get all dirty and disgusting." Your mom opened up one end of the bag, and dumped the entire contents into the trash can right at the end of the couch. Neither Mary or your mom noticed you fall into the couch, crushed into a tiny ball-ish form and covered in dust. Your mom then reattached the bag to the vacuum, and put the vacuum away.
Mary still wasn't convinced, and wanted to search the trash can for you, but the trash can was unfortunately on your mom's side of the couch. Mary decided she would have to search later. Regardless, your mom picked up the tray of spaghetti she was eating, and continued to talk to Mary, reassuring her that they would find you.
Meanwhile, you were sitting at the bottom of the trash can, in a big pile of dust and dirt. You began to feel your crumpled body reform, now that you finally had space to move. Just then, you heard something that made your blood run cold.
"Oh wow." Your mom cried. "I can't eat another bite! I'm stuffed!" Your mom stared at her still half full plate of wet, sauce covered spaghetti noodles. "Oh well." Mary gasped as your mom dumped her plate into the trash can beside her, and then stood up and walked away.
The plate fell suddenly and without warning, and you could not have been less prepared. You had hardly begun reforming, when a sudden onslaught of saucy and wet noodles rained down from the sky. The splattered all around you, until several fell on top of you, covering up your body. The sauce washed over top of you, wetting you with the goopy substance. You were instantly dyed red, and almost totally buried under noodles. This all happened in half a second. The plate fell last, crashing onto you, hiding you from view, and not giving you enough space to reform. You were trapped and helpless, yet again.
Mary waited until your mom was out of sight, and then crouched down on her knees and peered into the trash can. The plate covered almost everything in the can, but she could see noodles and a mess of sauce everywhere, as well as the dirt and dust from the vacuum cleaner. Was it really worth it to look for you in there? You probably weren't in there anyways, and if not she would just get all dirty and disgusting. What does Mary decide to do? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
