Chapter #12

Vanessa Monroe, an unassuming graphic designer

    by: Redfinale Author IconMail Icon
"Well, Tim, it seems you're now a young woman by the name of Vanessa Monroe. She wasn't in a vehicle like you or your family, but was apparently a passerby that got caught in all this mess," Dr. Kerry tells you. "Like I mentioned earlier, due to the procedure we used to save your life inevitably caused the part of your brain we transplanted in to Miss Monroe's to become more permanently fused, preventing us from being able to remove it at all. Likewise, the part of her brain attached to yours can't be removed either. In effect, the two of you have sort of "become" each other."

You couldn't believe what you were hearing. You were really in somebody else's body? "Can I see?" You ask.

"As you can see, we've even managed to avoid any scarring," Kerry says, holding up a mirror. The face that looked back at you seemed a bit a mess from the recent events, but otherwise looked beautiful. You saw deep forest green eyes, a cute little nose, and full lips. Your now dark blonde hair was a disheveled mess, pulled into a rough ponytail to keep it out of your face. Looking down towards your body, you could see the protruding shape of what you could only assume were breasts, not being able to make out much due to the hospital blanket.

"So what happens now?" you ask, trying to sit up, the curves of your new body pulling at you.

"Well, you see..." Dr. Saunders begins, "Because of the nature of this procedure, we can't exactly make this public. As such, you're going to have to live Miss Monroe's life and her yours." Seriously? They're expecting you to just become this woman you think to yourself "It isn't all bad, however. Your parents have been informed to the situation. They weren't entirely on board with the procedure, but after convincing them that we'd be saving your life they relented."

"So basically, I can't ever see my family again?" You ask incredulously.

"Not at all," Saunders says, "Technically, there's nothing stopping you from seeing them. In private, you can still be "Tim", but in public, you have to be "Vanessa". If anything, think of it as being a friend of the family."

Dr. Kerry and Saunders spent the next hour or so going over the specifics of what was to happen, explaining more in depth the requirements of sorts for what would happen following your discharge, the various NDAs you needed to sign, the whole shebang. "Well, Tim," Dr. Saunders said, "If everything looks good, you should be able to go home in the next couple days."

"Yay..." You say unenthusiastically.

"Now now, remember the alternative," Saunders reminds you.

"Sorry, just still taking things in," you reply dejected. Saunders gives you a pat on your shoulder, trying to comfort you.

"I know..." He trails off. With that, him and Kerry leave you to yourself.

Later on, after the medical staff did all the necessary tests and had left you alone, you decided to get up and have a look at yourself proper. Standing up, you immediately noticed a difference in you center of gravity as your new chest pulled you forward, causing you to stumble.

"Whoa, okay, that's gonna take some getting used to," you say to yourself, "And that." You give your throat a quick rub, the sound of your now feminine voice still off-putting. You take some tentative steps toward the restroom, trying to not to fall over. Once there, you use the sink as a support as you look at yourself in the mirror. Staring back was a woman you'd find difficult to call beautiful or gorgeous. She had shoulder length, dark blonde hair, deep forest green eyes, a cute nose, and full lips. The face lacked any make-up, but that didn't seem to detract from her beauty. You reached up to touch the mirror, to touch the face you saw, and forgetting for a moment in your stupor that you were looking a mirror, was shocked to see the woman in the mirror match your movement, her hand meeting yours. Realization hitting you, and remembering all that happened, you touch your face.

"So this is really me?" you ask aloud, still trying to wrap your head around all this.

You have the following choices:

*Pen*
1. "That's right." you hear a voice say.

*Pen*
2. Days later, when you're discharged.

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
