"...Randall? They seemed to spend an awfully long time in his room."
"I dunno," you shrugged. Having not had the chance to talk to him about it, due to his parents arriving and quickly whisking him away. Though as far as you'd been aware, "He seemed just fine to me."
Randall, who was your best friend having naturally come along to the game as well. The two of you being virtually inseparable. Having met way back in kindergarten and did pretty much everything together ever since. Having the exact same taste in movies, video games and music. The exact same sense of humor. As well as a lack of social standing amongst your peers. Neither of you exactly fitting in with the popular crowd. Not with how much of a goofball Randall was. Constantly pulling pranks and pissing people off. Most notably girls who you both had the hots for. His pick up technique leaving a hell of a lot to be desired. Which was probably why you'd yet to get very far in that respect. But even still, you wouldn't trade your lanky, redheaded best friend for anything in the world. Being especially glad then that he had also come out of the accident unscathed. Though knowing him, he's probably going to make up some bullshit story about how the car flipped and he had to single-handedly pull everyone to safety. Randall enjoying a good exaggeration.
Why the doctors had spent all that extra time with him however, you had absolutely no idea. But you figured you'd find out soon enough.
"Anyway. No point dwelling on it now," your father said. Placing his arm around your mother's shoulder as he did. "I'm just happy that everyone made it out okay. It could have been a lot worse." Echoing your own sentiments back in the hospital bathroom. "Lets just be thankful we're all still in one piece. Randall too.
"Though I suppose this means that we're going to have to start looking into buying another car," he continued with a sigh. Not sounding too happy about this extra expense as the conversation soon drifted onto other things. The fact that something slightly peculiar had gone on between the doctors and your best friend being filed away as 'just one of those things'. Along with that snippet of conversation you'd overheard earlier about... What was it again? ...A brain transplant or something? Chuckling at how ridiculous this sounded.
