Chapter #4Rewinding time to do a good deed. by: GTSRP Still invisible, you run ahead of her a bit and wave your hands around at her and she doesn't react at all. She just walks by you, totally unfazed. You really are invisible. After basking in that realization for a moment, considering what you could use these newfound powers for, you notice a wallet on the ground at your feet. Picking it up and opening it, which from an onlooker's perspective would be a wallet suddenly floating up from the ground, you see the name Hayley Hewitt and beside it a picture of the woman who had walked by you.
Turning the direction she went, you realize she's gone. "Damn," you think to yourself at first but then realize you quite literally have all the time in the world to find her; she couldn't have gotten far. You simply think for time to stop and so it does, but not only that. After the first second of time being frozen, it begins to rewind. You watch the woman walk backward down the street towards you until she's just a foot away. Time freezes again. "What the--" you instinctively say. Not only can you stop time, but you can also rewind it.
Since it's a mental ability, you must've subconsciously rewound time because you wanted to find the woman to give her wallet back to her. You shake off the initial shock and make yourself visible again. You think for time to commence and so it does. "Excuse me, miss." You get her attention. She's momentarily taken aback, wondering where you could've come from, but it's just a passing thought. "You just dropped this," you say, handing her wallet to her. "Oh my god, thank you so much. You're a lifesaver. Thank you," she says.
She takes her wallet from your hand and heads off again. You're pretty proud of yourself; that woman has her wallet now and she wouldn't have if not for you and your superpowers. "That's it!" you think. You could use these powers for good, like an actual superhero. But how? You ought to start slow. That woman, Hayley, called you a lifesaver. Maybe you could follow her and just be her guardian angel for the day to see what you can do, what you can do to help people. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
