Your mother (and current seat) lets out a sigh. She quickly turns on her heel to get the door, which catches you off guard. Your hands drop the hair and you fall backwards. The wooden floor rushes up to meet you, and it's "hello" was forceful enough to knock the sense out of you.
Not completely unconscious, you shakily pulled yourself up to your feet. Your view of the world was blurred, and your head hurt like hell. You try to take a step, but your body rejects that plan and instead ejects your lunch and falls over. End result: You're face first in a pool of your own vomit, without the coordination to get back up. Fearful thoughts start to bubble up; do you have a concussion?
Before the thought train can reach its destination, you start to hear words. Peering up, you think you can see your mother's feet walking through the kitchen, followed closely by Dani's... and someone else's? It's hard to tell if your mind is playing tricks or not. They begin to speak, but you can only pick up snippets of dialogue through the ringing in your ears.
"... break... she'll babysit... not that I... be goo... she is your..."
The pounding feet get ever closer as the procession of people walk through the kitchen. As their shadows cover you, your eyes close and you lose consciousness.
The delightful smell of stale vomit wakes you up not long later. The hardwood floor of the kitchen has been replaced by the white carpet of the family room. You sit up carefully, not wanting to aggravate any injuries, only to find that you feel much better than before. Odd, but so is shrinking and becoming functionally invisible. Having reassured your health, you jump straight to your feet, smashing your head against the soft ceiling you hadn't noticed. Although the angle is odd, it isn't too hard for you to determine with 90% accuracy that you are under a foot that's dangling off the couch.
