The Rogue Planet:
Rogue Planets are, in the field of astronomy, planets found floating in the void of Space without a sun to orbit. They are extremely rare, as the difficulty of a planet escaping a star's gravity well can be compared to an apple attempting to escape Earth's gravity.
Now, what if, at some point in history, Earth had become a rogue Planet?
Large, with powerful muscles, thick black chitin, and razor sharp teeth, had you been found in earth you would probably have been found in the deep, deep oceans. As it stands most life on Rogue Earth resembles hadopelagic life, with the few surviving plant species not requiring light or being bioluminescent. Your species having evolved in total darkness, your eyes are so finely attuned to the inky blackness that any light levels above what bioluminescence can produce are extremely painful.
Your species' society is in the tribal stages, things such as wood being exceptionally rare, and unrecognisable compared to how we would know it. This lack of resources means that your species will remain tribal for a very log time.
But, one day, strange beings comes through a portal of pure light that almost blinds you to look at it, and they carry sticks that illuminate huge areas. These things, these demons, soon switch to using bizarre apparatuses and lenses that fit over their eyes, allowing them to see as you do.
All they have to do if attacked is take out a small cylinder, press a button, and direct the torrent of bright, disgustingly painful light at the aggressor.
And yet, for some reason, they want to speak with your race... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
