To your dismay, when you were ready to swap back, Peach, and with her your body, was nowhere to be seen. It seemed that during your examination of yourself, Peach had continued going wherever it was she was going, and was now out of sight. This was definitely not good. If you didn't have your own body, you didn't want to be dismantling the remote in order to find out how it works, and risk breaking it and being stuck like this.
Right now, you weren't entirely sure where Peach was going, so if you wanted to look for her, you'd just be wandering around aimlessly. Still, you did want your body back, and you wouldn't be getting it back until you found Peach. The next time you'd see Peach would probably be at dinner, if you didn't run into her by chance. Perhaps you could just wait until then.
Although, if you dismantled the remote, there was no telling what would happen. Maybe it would just break normally, leaving everything as is. Maybe it would cause random swaps throughout the tournament grounds, creating some sort of messed up reality that no one was aware of, or worse, with you being the only one aware. Perhaps it was safer to simply leave it as a remote. Then you wouldn't have to be as worried about when you got your body back from Peach, and you could afford to experiment with different swaps a bit more.
