Jack shook his head and turned away from the mirror. As cool as this device was, he didn't want to live his mother's life. He opened the door of the room and walked back to his old room, before peering inside. His mother was sitting at his computer, her legs on his desk, exactly as he would have done if he was surfing the web. He observed Tanya in his body for a minute, noting she seemed to have all his habits and memories, as she knew his current password. I didn't learn mom's memories, Jack thought confused. Note to self, whoever I switch with will fill my role without issues. I'm the one who would most likely get caught, though I can always swap back if people suspect something... I hope. He held up the remote and hit the button twice.
He saw the familiar red beam a second before everything went blurry again.
Sweet, I can turn back. Jack had found himself at his computer desk and in his clothes. He turned to watch his mother leave the doorway, seemingly oblivious to everything that happened. The remote had also returned with him. Jack took a moment to consider the power he held within his hands. He couldn't swap bodies, but he could take on the life of anyone he wished. Friends, family, strangers, nothing was out of reach. He had so many options available to him, but figured some practice was in order to make sure he was used to switching.
His first thought was perhaps someone around the neighborhood. He knew most of his neighbors and thought he could impersonate them well enough, at least for a time. However, he was a teenager and his brain immediately thought of all the mischief he could do with this too. With this device, he could travel into areas normally off limits to him. School was closed for the summer, so that at least narrowed things down. He had a pass to the local gym, something his parents had bought him for his birthday last month, that he had never planned to use. He could see real life action with no one being the wiser. There was also the beach nearby, which was sure to have a lot of interesting targets.
Whatever he chose, his boring summer had come to an end.
