"Jason! I was thinking we could-"
"Sorry, little bro, but I gotta run! My friends are waitin' on me!"
A large, black-furred hand ruffled Kyle's hair before Jason grabbed his hoodie as he flung the door open, slipping it on as he shut the door behind him.
Kyle sighed. Jason never wanted to do anything with him, always hanging out with his friends. Pouting, Kyle trudged up to his room, thinking about all the things he wanted to do with his brother, ranging from playing to simply talking. Catching sight of the time on his clock, Kyle wondered why anyone would want to be out so late - a look out the window confirmed that the sun had long set.
After pulling on his pyjamas, Kyle sat on the edge of his bed, not wanting to go to sleep.
A pinprick of light in the sky slowly moved, a tiny trail behind it. Kyle's eyes widened when he realised what it was; a shooting star! Sure, it wasn't like it was going to make his wish come true, or anything...
...but it couldn't hurt, just in case it somehow did.
Eyes focused on the shooting star, Kyle looked through his mind for a wish to make, and one thing stood out. "I wish... That my older brother would notice me..." He said after a moment's hesitation. The shooting star quickly faded from view, the light too dim to continue being seen by the young boy.
Feeling tired, Kyle elected to slip under his covers, quickly falling asleep. Little did he know it, but his wish was going to come true - just not in the way he imagined, and not right away. Kyle was four feet and eleven inches tall, around average height for his age. But he was going to get much, much bigger...
How does Kyle grow as a result of the wish? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
