Of course, Jeremy didn't give even a word of gratitude when Austin delivered the ice cream, his attention entirely focused on the TV. Austin didn't know why he expected anything, but he still felt a little peeved. Clenching his fists in anger, he turned around and stormed up to his room, knowing he would probably feel bummed about this for the rest night.
Instead, though, Austin seemed to get sleepier much earlier than normal, already yawning at just 8:00pm. Luckily, he had finished his school work earlier in the afternoon, so he decided to go to bed early. "I hope I'm not coming down with anything," he thought, stripping off his clothes and changing into his pajamas. He was momentarily surprised that they felt tighter than they normally did, and looking down at his stomach, he noticed that the bottom of his shirt just barely met the top of his pants, and his ankles were now exposed, even though the legs of the pants used to reach all the way to his heels . Shrugging, he wrote it off as a sign of either havig a nice little growth spurt, or someone messing up on the last laundry day.
As he picked up his pants from the floor, he remembered the stone from his pocket, and pulled it out. The glow was still there, although in the darker room it seemed to have dimmed somewhat. "Well, at least something cool happened today," he muttered to himself. Looking around his room, he tried to decide where he could put the stone, but nowhere appeared to be safe enough to keep from being seen if his brother butted in some point during the night.
Finally, he decided to just put the stone under his pillow, covering it so that the blue glow wouldn't keep him awake. Crawling under the sheets and laying down, Austin closed his eyes, thinking about what life would be like if the tables were turned and he was the bigger one for once. "I'd love to see Jeremy's face if that happened," he murmured to himself, a slight smile forming on his face as he drifted off to sleep.
Throughout the night, the blue stone continued to pulse and glow, as Austin's body continued to slowly grow...
