Chapter #6

Mattie wakes up.

Mattie began to stir and moan before slowly opening her eyes. "What a nightmare." rubbing her eyes, she said. "I dreamed that I had been turned into a girl."

"I'm afraid it wasn't a dream... sis." wincing, you said.

Mattie turned to you then looked at herself and screamed. She looked about the room and screamed again. "What is going on!?" hysterical, she asked. "I'm supposed to be a boy, not a girl!"

"I don't know how or why this happened." firmly but kindly, you said. "You changed right in front of me and there is nothing I know of that can do that."

"I have an idea." under her breath, Mattie grumbled.

"I'm sorry, what?" leaning closer, you asked.

"Never mind." grumpily, Mattie replied. his face then softened. "Thank you for being here. Better you help me get dressed than Tex or James."

"Yeah, that would be awkward." wrinkling your nose, you said. "Do you remember what happened before you changed? Any clue could lead to solving this mystery."

"Well, I saw James return home." shrugging, Maddie replied. "He talked to Tex for a short while, he seemed to be happy when they were done."

"Maybe I'll talk to Tex, see if he knows anything." after a thought, you said. "After that, maybe we can both go out for a while."

Maddie gulped. "Out?" fearful, she asked. "As in outside, why?"

"To clear our heads and think this through." simply, you replied.

Maddie sighed. "Okay..." reluctantly, she said.

As you left Maddie to talk to Tex, you heard...
