Backstory: Ken Freedman was a specialist of botany. He would usually combine different types of plants to create new breeds and would usually involve certain chemicals and cause unpredictable effects. Then suddenly one of his brothers was on the verge of dying from a disease that couldn't be cured. So as an experiment he decided to use one of his mutated plants that, in theory, could cure him of his disease...well nether the less he was dead wrong. Not only did his brother mutate into a plant-like creature, but this creature had the ability to mutate human beings into grotesque creatures of a very dark nature with a spore-aura that grows from a flower that this thing makes/ was the original plant that was given to him.
In time this plant had spread throughout the entire town that these two lived in and it turned into a unholy land of darkness which is quite literal since a dark aura cloud has blocked all forms of sunlight. This phenomenon obviously attracted the attention of many people which the military came and blocked off all passageways and people who entered who were curious/ fight frenzied got curbstomped. (Which again at the time it was still blooming) Skipping all the details of the events that occurred in the town, a vaccine was created to combat the black aura, Ken was infected and his aura can only be suppressed (Which by now you could guess it's development) his brother was killed and this town is still a hell-hole with all military-type and anyone that can fight in general pulling out as with very few survivors.
