Promising Boxes

There are boxes stacked to all sides of her, and the small cabinet and shelving spaces along the walls are all packed. Unfortunately, it’s all yard and home stuff that won’t do any good. There’s a broken bicycle, garden tools, two rubber hoses, a chainsaw, a welder’s mask, table saw, clamps and gloves, and other stored things piled box atop box.

Then, below some cardboard boxes, stored for who knows how long, Mackenzie sees two boxes that could have something she might wear.

One is marked XMAS JUNK, and the other just says BEACH.
