You quickly get dressed and rush out the door. You jump in your car and drive like a madman to the pool. Finally you arrive having broken a few rules of the road.
You grab your stuff and go into the rec center where you worked. You were about to duck into the men's locker room when you run into your boss Brenda.
"You're late," she scolds you slightly.
"I know, I know," you frantically reply. "I, um, overslept."
"Just don't make it a habit," she replies. She then walks off. You were expecting worse than that. Though you'd never been late to work before.
You rush into the locker room and get ready. You pull off your over shirt exposing your tank top with the word "Lifeguard" emblazoned on it. You were now wearing your uniform consisting of a white tank top and blue swim trunks.
you grabbed your whistle and a water bottle and went out to the pool area.
Brett was currently sitting in the one of the chairs. You knew you were supposed to relieve him when your shift started so he was covering for you.
You sighed and walk up to him. "Hey man, you finally got here," he glibly replies.
"Sorry," you say to h him.
"No worries," he shrugged. "I'm getting overtime now."
You cringe and realize just how nice Brenda was to you now. Brett climbs down and you climb up. You survey the scene in front of you.
Across the pool you see Janet. The other life guard on site. She waves to you as she catches you looking. You nod to her and continue to look around.
There aren't a ton of people here. Brett had the morning shift which is mostly the hardcore swimmers doing laps early before work. You are about to get the after school rowdy bunch playing and having fun. Right now there are only a few moms with their kids and some teenagers here now.
