Jack looked out the window and spotted someone walking down the street. It was their neighbor, Faye Jones. She and her husband had been your parent's neighbors for decades. When they first moved in when you were just a kid, they were a young and happy couple. But they didn't stay that way for too long. The one thing that she and her husband wanted more than anything was to start a family. For years they tried to get pregnant. When they got tested for fertility, it was discovered that Faye had a rare genetic disorder, PCOS. (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) She would grow cancerous cysts in her ovaries - meaning that the chances of her getting pregnant were slim to none. While chances to increase her fertility were possible, they had very unsatisfying results. After a while, they gave up.
Now she was in her early forties. Tension began to rise between her and her husband and they slowly drifted apart. She had the look of a woman who hadn't been touched in years. Jack wondered if they considered adoption - but judging by how forlorn she always looked, he could assume they hadn't. He didn't know why, but he began to feel the alien voice in his head wanted him to specifically look at her.
He opened his hand and looked down at the coin. It was what Jack was considering Tails. It was hard to tell with this coin - the only difference between the two sides was that one side had the couple smiling, and the other had them frowning. In Jack's palm was the latter side. He wondered why they were so different, but he probably figured that the pregnancy on this side was an accident. Quite frankly, he was surprised the man wasn't frowning on both sides.
While he was focused on the coin, he didn't even realize that the car had driven up to the house. His dad parked and they all stepped out. Jack slipped the coin into his pocket. Something drew his eyes back toward Faye Jones - watching her as she solemnly strolled down the street. He knew that it wouldn't be long before the midlife crisis struck and her husband left her...How sad.
He continued into the house and went up to his room.
