Chapter #3

The shopping center

    by: Unknown
Realizing that a simple sword wouldn't help him get very far if he faced a serious threat, William decided to walk into the shopping center. As he wandered in, he was approached by a mysterious round figure clad in a black cloak, who slowly walked by, motioning for the fox to follow him. "Have you ever been here before?", the cloaked figure grunted. "No... wait, who-" "Don't worry about me. Got any money?" "No, I-" "You're a brilliant one. If you even look at someone wrong, you could end up with your ass kicked... or worse." The mystery fur thrust a bag into William's hands. "Here." "What's this?" "A small fortune. Just wanted to protect a newbie, can't have someone eating your butt up. Just so you know, I meant that literally, not figuratively." The cloaked figure began to walk away from the confused fox before suddenly tripping, his massive bulk slipping out of his black cloak to reveal a huge panda, sheepishly running away. You look at the gold again: looks like he fenced it from someone with the initials "F.F.," as that's what the bag's side reads in marker. Glancing around to make sure this "F.F." wasn't about to bumrush him, William grabbed a handful from the sack and dropped the rest still in the bag. If "F.F." found it, he wouldn't be TOO mad, right?

Dozens of tents of every color, each with its own fur merchant selling his or her wares, spanned a vast plowed section of the field. As the fox wandered among the crowd, he heard shouts from vendors of every kind. One offered exotic treats and sweets guaranteed to put ten pounds on someone or their money back; another offered magical spells, the raccoon mage occasionally throwing a spell at a passerby, showing off his skills by shrinking, growing or transforming the confused target for about ten seconds before the effect wore off and they returned to normal. Others offered every kind of potion, clothing or trinket imaginable, all extolling that theirs were the best. Making a makeshift coinpurse out of an abandoned piece of cloth, William began to look for something to buy.
