When you chose your target, you thought to yourself that it might be best to choose someone who shared a similar culture that you had. Of course, you did not want to continue living your life; that was clearly confirmed in your 20 years of research for these probes. But when you really sat down to think about it, you realized that not all aspects of your life were bad. You were a big fan of baseball ever since you were introduced to it as a child by your grandfather, and while it has been sad watching it alone after your grandfather has passed away, you enjoyed watching the games, especially the euphoria from seeing your team winning. You want to continue enjoying meatloaf, your favorite dish that your grandmother used to make, and it served as your everyday lunch for the past 20 years. Despite all the bad memories you have suffered your whole life, there are some good ones hidden in between, such as the times with your late grandparents. Safe to say, you felt closest to them, as they were caring, attentive, and optimistic: qualities not present with your current friends and family. In a way, watching baseball games and eating meatloaf help you remember those times as you endure the years of hardships. You thought, "Perhaps it will be easiest to keep those traditions as an American. Sure, I can adapt to the new body's circumstances with the power of these nanoprobes, but it would be easier to keep some aspects as an American regardless. Plus, I could always switch hosts later, so I could try others as long as I can access the machine again."
As the download continued, you felt yourself losing your senses. Over time, everything went numb and pitch-black, as your consciousness became its own separate entity. You knew that based on your calculations, it might take a few minutes to reach your target body and control it from inside. Soon, a screen popped up in your "virtual" world, a space programmed in your probe. It showed the current scene in the lab, where every volunteer has gathered for their "tournament". As you wait patiently, you could only hope that the probes stay true to their course, and there are no outside interference in your path.
