The snow-covered landscape of Hokkaido stretched as far as the eye could see, and the biting cold wind swept through the air, carrying with it the echoes of a tumultuous past. It was a time of rebuilding, 15 years after the end of World War II, and Japan was still grappling with the aftermath of the conflict. In the midst of these challenges, a young boy named Takeda Ooizumi emerged, destined for greatness.
Takeda Ooizumi was no ordinary boy. He hailed from a proud lineage, a descendant of the legendary Takeda Shingen, a warrior of great renown from the Warring States period. The blood of a samurai coursed through his veins, and his destiny seemed predetermined. It was no surprise when he gained entrance to the elite school of Ootomi, nestled in the heart of Hokkaido.
The prestigious institution was renowned for producing leaders and visionaries, and Takeda Ooizumi was eager to carry on the legacy of his ancestors. As he entered the hallowed halls of Ootomi, the weight of his lineage bore down on him, but he embraced it with determination and pride.
On his first day, Takeda found himself surrounded by students from diverse backgrounds, each with their dreams and aspirations. The corridors echoed with whispers of the challenges Japan faced in the post-war era — economic struggles, political instability, and a society in flux.
On that first day at Ootomi, as the students gathered in the grand assembly hall, the air buzzed with anticipation. Principal Yamamoto, a venerable figure with a mane of silver hair and a presence that demanded respect, stepped forward to address the eager crowd.
"Welcome, esteemed students, to Ootomi," Principal Yamamoto or Yamamoto Tamon began, his voice resonating through the hall. "Here, you embark on a journey that transcends the ordinary. This institution has a rich history of nurturing the finest minds, and it is now your turn to contribute to that legacy."
Takeda Ooizumi, standing among his peers, felt a sense of responsibility intensify. The weight of his lineage combined with the expectations of the prestigious school created a formidable burden.
"As you begin your academic journey," Principal Yamamoto continued, "you will soon discover a unique aspect of Ootomi. In addition to traditional studies, we specialize in the ancient art of shikigami summoning. Each of you will have the opportunity to bond with a shikigami — a spiritual companion and protector."
The mention of shikigami sparked a murmur of excitement among the students. These mystical beings, drawn from the essence of nature, were said to form unbreakable bonds with their human counterparts.
"Before you choose your shikigami, reflect on your strengths and aspirations," Principal Yamamoto advised. "The bond you forge will be crucial in navigating the challenges that lie ahead. So... Choose wisely."
With those words, the students were led to a room filled with radiant, luminescent eggs — the vessels of the shikigami spirits. Each egg pulsated with energy, reflecting the unique essence within. Takeda Ooizumi, his heart pounding, approached the array of eggs, wondering which one held the spirit that would accompany him on his journey.
The room buzzed with excitement as students carefully selected their shikigami eggs, unaware of the adventures and trials that awaited them in the mystical realm intertwined with the academic pursuits of Ootomi.
Then principle came to the hiers of Takeda clan, gave him a paper with four picture.
"Now then, you have a choice as this is the standard of the Shikigami in Ootomi: an bakeneko, tanooki, inari, or an oni. Bakeneko is very friendly and always keep you away from being sad. Tanooki is laid back so when your stressed out, you can always lean on her. An inari have morals so if you need help with study, you can count on her. And the oni is the strongest, so if you need someone to defend you, she is the one." Yamamoto said, before continue "But, if you had another in your mind. Then said, young Takeda"
"Hmm…" Ooizumi thought. He stood before the array of shimmering shikigami eggs, each radiating a unique energy.
He thought for a moment, considering the legacy of his ancestors and the challenges that lay ahead. After a brief internal deliberation, he decided to pick the egg with a soft, ethereal glow, resonating with a calming energy.
As he cradled the chosen egg in his hands, a sense of connection washed over him. It was as if the spirit within recognized him, and he felt an unspoken bond forming. The egg emitted a gentle warmth, and Takeda Ooizumi couldn't help but feel a surge of confidence and determination.
Principal Yamamoto, observing the students making their choices, nodded approvingly as Ooizumi held his selected shikigami egg. "Excellent choice, young Takeda. May the bond between you and your shikigami be strong and harmonious."
The egg that he choose is...
