On the small asteroid of Tinyscira, the 1/2" Amazons lived in, not peace, but not total war either, the Amazonian natives have to contend with the viscous native life forms. The Asteroid is a hair over 2,400 square feet in size, and the amazon lifestyle is not what was idealized 20 million years ago. In addition to having to deal with masculine invaders every couple decades or so, at their scale forging metal is impossible, and to top it off, they aren't the only civilization on the rock.
A race of beetle-like aliens, about 1.5" inches in size, called this rock first, and they've been enslaving and killing the amazons wherever they met on the fields of the asteroid. Of course, a blade of grass is a tee to these people, so make of that what you will when we say fields.
