You pulled the van into the driveway as quietly as possible.
"Okay. Lauren's going to flip her shit if we go in directly." you explained, not that it needed explaining.
"Right. We need to try and hide this stuff." Megan said, before finishing the last of the chip bag she had been working on.
You opened the door that leads to the garage and looked both ways down the hall. Lauren wasn't in sight. However, her car was in the driveway...
"Maybe she went to her friends'. Hurry, let's get this in the pantry before she notices." you say, running back to the car and opening the trunk.
You almost had it all out on the counter when you heard a noise on the stairs...
==================
"No, no, NO, NO, NO!" Lauren yelled.
"I feel as though there's a message you're trying to convey here." Megan replied.
"Get this junk food shit OUT OF THE HOUSE."
"Language, missy." Megan said, popping a chocolate chip cookie into her mouth.
"Justin, you let her buy all this shit?!" Lauren said, turning on you.
"Hey, you're the only one who likes vegetables around here last time I checked." you said. You felt justified in your choice, after all, you're the oldest, right?
"Mom wouldn't stand for this if she was here."
"And, she isn't, so, what's the problem?" Megan asked, grabbing another cookie. "Besides -" she bit into it. "itsh not like we get to eat dish stuff every day!"
"Don't talk with your mouth full, Meg. I'm going to the movies with Jenny. You guys better get this crap out of this house before I get back otherwise I'm going to blow a gasket." Lauren left the room. Perhaps you had actually overdone it. The kitchen counter was wall to wall with chips, cookies, soda, pizza bites, basically if it was unhealthy it was sitting on the McCoy family table.
"Megan," you started, "how the hell are we gonna get rid of all this garbage?" Megan looked worried. This part, you two hadn't thought through. Megan's face changed, and it appeared as if she'd had a breakthrough.
"Justin, put the frozen junk in the chest freezer outside where dad keeps meat when he goes hunting. Take the non-refrigerated snack stuff and the soda up to my room. The cake... leave that to me." A sudden look of determination crossed Meg's face that made you feel like you could believe anything the girl said.
"Okay, Meg. I trust in your abilities." You began to move the frozen pizzas, frozen waffles, frozen chicken bites, and other frozen meals out to the chest freezer as Meg broke the seal on the SaveWay brand chocolate cake. It was coated in white frosting with green trim. Delicious. Meg cut herself a generous slice and began to chow down on it. Melissa McCoy, your mother, would never have let Meg eat anything non-nutritious. Melissa and Lauren were the health nuts of the family, and one of the best parts about your mother being out of town was that you were able to eat things that actually tasted, not just tofu and whatnot. Megan ate greedily, with the passion of a girl who's been starved of good food all her life. The first slice was easy. Meg cut herself a second slice and began to work on that too. The delicious fluffy chocolate and the rich creamy icing were things that Meg usually only dreamed of. She gulped it down with a hearty glass of whole milk (another pickup at the store). The cake was almost gone with the third slice, but so was Meg's appetite. She was starting to get sick of cake.
"Can ya do it?" you asked your sister as you moved another bag of stuff up to her room.
"I don't think so, dude. Oof." Megan replied. Her stomach felt tight as a drum.
"That's okay, I'll get a piece." you say, walking back down the stairs.
Megan cut herself a fourth piece of cake and you took one for yourself. Meg put in a good effort, eating way past what was comfortable, and you ate your piece. But there was still cake left.
"D'ya want the last piece, Meg?" She looked at you with the iciest of stares. "Oh-kay... sick of cake, then..." you headed towards the garbage with the last slice.
"W-wait..." Megan managed. "I'll take it upstairs for later... don't waste it..."
"Christ. Here you go." You handed the last slice to her, and she carried it upstairs with one hand while holding her bulging belly with the other. Meg went up to her room, the palace of snacks, and lay down to rub her stomach.
When Lauren got back...
