Turning his face upwards revealed that his body was sleeping, its breaths moving in and out like the soft waves on a beach during a sunny day. For a moment, David felt relieved, knowing that his body was slumbering peacefully, perhaps too peacefully. It has been a while since his face had looked this relaxed. He had been caught in an endless list of misfortunes, the stolen car being the most recent. Even before that, his dealership, for which he had poured his heart and soul into, had not been doing well financially. It simply cannot compete with the larger dealerships in the vicinity, with their fancier cars and more extravagant advertising. But for this very instance, all of those worries were seemingly washed away. As many would say, ignorance sure was bliss.
As much as David would want to dwell on the peaceful lull, it couldn't completely erase the work he had to do. Strewn across the desk that his body laid on was the paperwork he had to deal with for the past couple of weeks. On top were the police report for the stolen car and the associated insurance claim. At least David was able to recover the car, but now he had a lot of explaining to do with the insurance company. He had hoped that the insurance company would cover some damages that occurred before the incident. Of course, the company would always ask for proof, which would be difficult to come by.
David saw a faint glimmer emanating from his body's jacket pocket. Reaching in, brushing against the much coarser skin of his hands across Emily's smoother skin, David retrieved the diamond, which felt a little warm to the touch. For some reason, it looked brighter than when he first saw it in the stolen car.
A sudden epiphany hit David, which almost caused him to jump in excitement. David couldn't really explain it, but he felt much more energetic ever since he was in Emily's body. Perhaps her go-getter attitude has infected his personality just by being wearing her skin. But back to the epiphany in question, David realized that he was inadvertently rubbed the diamond when he was still in his body minutes earlier. Was the stone the key to all of this body switching? David held the diamond up to the light, squinting Emily's eyes as if trying to discern its mechanism and features. So many questions popped up, including how to switch back and where Emily's consciousness was located. But he was able to answer how to trigger the switch, or at least fairly sure. If he could just retrace the actions he did before...
David sat himself down on the nearby couch in his office, curious to test out his theory in earnest. Searching for a target, his mind dwelled on the paperwork on his eyes, specifically the insurance claims he had filed. If he were to test, it might as well be for an actual purpose. Hitting two birds with one stone, as they say. He settled on the claims officer he had been working with. Her name was Aubrey, and she was considered fairly young and pretty compared to her colleagues. She may even rival Emily in terms of attractiveness, which was probably why David had Emily accompany him on visits to the insurance company. Even with Emily's beauty and persuasive lingo, Aubrey did not budge, not giving in to David's demands. Initially, David had thought that he could drive over to the company again, this time under the guise of Emily, in an attempt to win her over. But after a second thought, with his newfound power, he could just become Aubrey herself and take care of the claim without additional time wasted. A mischievous smile crept across his face, which was highly uncharacteristic for Emily's appearance.
Of course, he hadn't figured out everything about the diamond, but it would be something he would work through along the way. Making himself comfortable on the couch, preventing Emily's body from injuring itself after his consciousness departed, he started to think about Aubrey, her silky light brown hair, matching bright eyes, svelte physique. Her chest may not be as impressive as Emily's, but it was cute in its own way. For some reason, it made him happy thinking about that, even though a smaller bust size should have been less desirable for David's mind. Before he could think any further, his vision blanked out again, and he was whisked away once more.
David found himself staring at a well decorated office space, a departure from his own dingy office at the dealership. Sure enough, he quickly recognized it as the insurance office he has visited frequently. While the location was familiar, his exact position was not. David found himself perched on a stepladder, resulting in him being much closer to the ceiling than he expected. The air vent on the ceiling was blowing a soft breeze, sending strands of light brown hair across his face. He wanted to brush those aside, but he quickly realized that his hands were holding a tube light, probably serving as a replacement for one that was burned out. It caught David off-guard, and even a little jolt of movement caused him to sway on the ladder. His feet felt unsteady given the heels he had to wear, and he had to grasp on the rungs of the ladder for balance. Unfortunately, the tube light dropped as a result and shattered across the office floor.
"Is everything okay?" a male employee who had just rushed into the office asked. Seeing the broken light on the floor, he said exasperatingly, "How many times have I told you, Aubrey? Don't worry about these things yourself. We can take care of it." The employee looked somewhat older than Aubrey, but not too old that he would be seen as a superior. Slowly getting himself down from the ladder, feeling the contortion of his new skirt and pantyhose against his skin. It wasn't exactly a new feeling per se, as Emily also wore similar attire, but being on a ladder meant that the skirt and pantyhose were definitely stretched beyond their normal wear, creating quite a tight and intimate experience.
"Sorry," David muttered in Aubrey's delicate voice, face slightly flushed from embarrassment. "I'll just stop by the restroom for a bit." David quickly scurried out of the office as the employee started cleaning the mess he had created.
Standing in front of the mirror for the first time in his new body, he took in his new look. Staring back at him was none other than Aubrey herself, which wasn't surprising at this point. Today, she adorned a light pink blouse with a large ribbon hanging from the neckline. It was partially covered by a bright blue cashmere blazer on the outside. Below was a matching skirt that was probably too short to David's liking, falling only to mid-thigh. At least the brown pantyhose was able to cover the rest of her slim legs, but it still felt like he was practically naked underneath, save for the underwear that felt too silky. His small feet were encased in bright blue heels that didn't look as daunting as Emily's. Maybe he was just caught by surprise when he stood on the ladder that made the perception worse. David felt Aubrey's thick ponytail behind him, tied together by a blue ribbon. Aside from the light makeup on Aubrey's face, David noticed the small pearl earrings hanging from each of Aubrey's earlobes, which added a bit of weight and femininity to her alluring appearance. Everything looked normal except for the slightly perturbed expression plastered on her face, which was caused by David's anxiety, Taking a few deep breaths allowed him to calm down slightly, feeling the weight of his chest undulating up and down.
"Aubrey? Why are you here?" a voice called from the door, revealing another male employee, one more senior-looking. Before David opened his mouth asking the meaning of the question, he realized that he had entered the men's room. Obviously, he can't blame himself for going there, since he has been doing it his entire life. But in this instance, he wasn't exactly a man. In a moment of deja vu, David scurried out once more, mouthing "Sorry" as he held his head down in embarrassment. Being someone else certainly wasn't easy.
Returning to Aubrey's office, he found the broken glass cleaned and the light replaced, reclaiming some sense of normalcy in the new environment. Knowing that he shouldn't distract himself further, he... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
