You hold it up high, and look between it's legs, and find a smooth belly. And.. Well, that seems to be it. This dragon was born without a sex. That does not mean, however, that it has no gender, which is inherently different than than a things born sex. You think back to the creatures 'mama' and recall how it seemed more in your head than spoken out loud. You try to mentally ask it if it's a girl or boy, and...
