Alison turned another corner in the forest trail and sighed. No, still not the right way!
She'd tried to go to the village to get her some corn for her mother. Somehow she'd got turned around near the Escott Forest and was lost. She'd travelled this route many times in the past and never found a patch of trees this dense or with this winding a trail. How could she be lost this close to home?
"Oh, and it has to happen THIS time of the month!" she groans, but at least she'd be away from home if it happened.
Alison has tried to avert the 'change' that happens to her every month, but never succeeded. She could trigger it, but not stop it. Not completely at least. Occasionally she could make herself only change into part snake part girl, but couldn't stay a girl. When changed she was not quite herself mentally, but recently she was at least... nicer. When she was young her changed self was rather... hungry and vicious. The hunger was still there, but she didn't do anything without thinking of the consequences now at least. Somehow, after over ten years of changing into a snake, she'd managed to avoid her father finding out... though her mother knew. She'd found her in the process of changing five years ago. Surprised, shocked, but a mother's love had carried through at least. She was worried for Alison, but had at least accepted her.
Smiling as she thought of her mother she swung her basket and tried down yet another pathway in the forest.
