Light's POV
I was not showing it, but inside I was a whirlwind of emotions. I thought I was done with my past, that place where I grew up had been fucking destroyed. Anything that wasn't burned was blown up, this girl...she had survived by being under the rubble, safe in an ice cube. I had my arms folded and just stood there till Ryan piped up with "Hey Light, why don't you show Lunar around the school. It might help."
I bit my lower lip, had Ryan just said what I thought he did? I sighed, I couldn't argue with Ryan considering the debt I owed him. Besides he was correct, it would help prevent annoying questions later on. "C'mon, follow me." I muttered, patting Lunar on the back of her school uniform.
She nodded and we left the dorm, and then she slinked her hand into mine. My eyes went wide and I looked at her. "Uh...the hell are you doing?" I said to her.
"It is so I do not get lost, now please lead the way." she stated. I knew inwardly that Lunar probably wouldn't take no for an answer, this day just kept getting better.
I sighed and said "Fine, just don't talk to other people right now. They might think the wrong thing."
"And what might that be?"
"That we do things like Ryan and Jenny do, I think the meaning is dating or something...." was she thick or something? It was probably because she's a robot.
"Dating.....Ah the concept of courting another and engaging in foreplay. Why not? It could be useful as a cover for our identities." Lunar explained, no doubt using her "Google database." to check on the meaning. It did sound like it could be useful, but I didn't want to think on it and just stand here.
"C'mon, if we say we are together and you’ve just come here then people might get concerned that something is up.” I growled out, letting go of Lunar’s hand as I did so.
Then the pink haired girl stopped walking for a second before nodding and said “I understand, please accept my apologies.”
I just wanted to get this over with, I clicked my tongue and said “Just come on, curfew will be on and we can’t walk around during it.” Lunar took this as a motion to follow me, we walked in silence for a wee bit down a stone path from our dorm. There were other dorms that looked just like ours, it was where the students stayed. My room was…well I didn’t tidy it for a good while to be honest, but I’m messy by nature.
So we walked towards the large building at the end of this stone path, past the pristine grass lawns in front of it. The building looked old but well looked after, like a fine wine Ryan would tell me.
“So you came here last night yeah?” I asked, not looking at her cause I didn’t want to give anything away.
“Yes, I was using my flight mode to scout the location. Whereupon I was caught by the security forces that you refer to as prefects. After a minor battle I was blindsided and shot down, I then woke up in a room with shackles that I couldn’t break. I complied with the headmaster of this school, figuring it best to cooperate to locate you. Then you and your leader arrived and you know the rest.” Lunar explained, it was all…..machine like. Like she was firing off a series of facts to me.
I merely just grunted, I then had a thought and decided to voice it to Lunar with “Hang on, if you can fly. Then why do you need me to show you around? Haven’t you seen all the buildings?”
“Yes, but I have yet to see their internal structure.” Lunar had retorted back to me.
I stood there for a couple of minutes and then nodded, she made a fair point. With that I said “Well you’ve probably seen the entrance hall, I’ll take you to the literature building.”
The building in question had about 4 floors, and was about the size of a football field. It had several windows as well, I saw this place as an enemy to be honest. I was still learning to read and write, but with Lunar perhaps I can get it done more easily.
“So this is the literature building, the first floor covers math’s. Then it’s English, and then History and then it’s uh….Languages. I’ll just show you the first floor, they all look the same anyway.” I said, opening the double doors for both of us. True enough there were about five classrooms that I could see, and I knew there were about five more to the left. I motioned for Lunar to take a peek in one, neatly placed tables and chairs. Fucking gripping.
“Next.” I said, I took Lunar by the hand and walked out the building. I could tell there were people looking at us, a few guys too. Although none of them knew me, so they didn’t want to test me. Now off to the next one.
It was a small building, with a rectangle shape and red bricks. Outside was several sport fields.
“In case you can’t already tell this is the sports place, here things from football to martial arts happen here. They won’t let us into the building unless a teacher is nearby, magic barrier. So don’t get any funny ideas, you can go in there tomorrow.” I said to the pink haired girl, she merely nodded.
I then lead her to a large building, it looked like some large tower converted into a learning center.
“This is the library, any book you need you can get here. And if it’s not they know where it can be found. Come on.” I said to Lunar, I actually enjoyed this place. I was still learning on how to read and write, considering I’d lived most of my years as a highwayman. Least that’s what Ryan said I was.
“Stay quiet.” I muttered to Lunar, the librarians here could be quite annoying if you didn’t follow the rules. Although I was confident I could handle them if need be, but I wasn’t going to start any fights for sure.
The library was large and grand, with bookcases taller than I was. And there were several old tables and chairs, with several students around. Lunar walked ahead of me to look at some of the books, I wanted to stay and read too. At least as best I could. But there were other things I had to show her, and it needed to be done today as school started tomorrow.
“C’mon.” I muttered out, grabbing her once again. The last building was probably the oldest out the lot, it clearly looked aged to be sure.
“And this is the last one, the magic and science department. One half of it is for science and technology and the other is for magic practicing and other shit.” I said to her. Out of all the buildings this was the one I disliked the most, it looked fine but….magic and science don’t’ mix. Like magic and armor, like Chon and witches and…..I’ll just stop here.
When I said science and technology Lunar perked up and said to me “Can I use these facilities to upgrade myself?”
I had a rather contorted glare on my face, I shook my head and said “Uh no Lunar, we can’t have everyone knowing that you’re a robot. It could….jeopardize the mission.” I didn’t want to get into any trouble, at this rate Lunar was being more of a liability than anything else. But I’m sure if anyone could smooth this over it’d be my boss Ryan, he could do it.
Just then I saw a couple of familiar girls walk past, it was Charlie’s older twin Sisters. I forgot their names but I hated their guts. From what I remember their Mother had been a part of the witch coven that killed Chon’s Brother, now Chon had chosen to spare the woman. Charlie and his Sisters were sent here, the girls were being given a chance to not end up like their Mother.
But I could tell it wasn’t working, they still hunted the poor kid every chance they got. Despite getting beaten up more than once for it. Just then they noticed me with Lunar, and then…..
