"Madam dean!" surprised and stunned, I said. "What gives me the honor of your visit?"
Elvira Smith smiled; she was a tall and slender 34 year old woman with shoulder length dust blond hair and ocean blue eyes that seemed to dance in the dim light. She had been appointed dean of Starmage Academy by the head witch, Elvira Strange who had every trust in her abilities. Mr Tanaka, the former head of the school took the chance to retire from the job. Ryan still kept in contact with him, he viewed the man as the Father figure he never had.
"I'm sorry to disturb you before classes, Ryan Carlson." kindly, she said. "However, I am in need of your services."
"How may I assist you, madam dean?" politely, I asked.
"My daughter, Christina has been given the honor to attend this academy." with a hint of pride, Elvira replied. "However..." she sighed, shaking her head. "Madam head witch has insisted that my son attend this academy as well."
"Forgive me but... is he a poor student?" worried, I asked. "I can try to mentor him, if you wish."
Elvira giggled darkly. "Far from it, I'm afraid." sighing, she said. "You see, my son, Juan has chosen to follow in his father's footsteps and become a mad scientist." pausing, she added, "You, of course, know of the ancient war that existed between the two powers."
"I do indeed." nodding, I said. "It became so intense that all people in the UK were eventually born with an immunity to Transgender, shrinking, and body swap types of magic."
"The war finally ended in the early 1990s." serious, Elvira said. "However, some still hold on to the hatred of that conflict as it raged for centuries. This academy was partly founded to maintain that delicate peace."
"I see your concern." looking at Elvira, I said. "You fear Juan will not set well with this academy and attempt to enroll into Eligere Sententia boys' boarding school on his own."
Eligere Sententia, Latin for 'elite way of thinking', was a school that constantly changed location. No one who resides near the school where it appears is ever aware of its presence. There, they molded young mad scientists into the powerful beings they were 'destined' to become. Most who graduate from this institution of learning move on to influence the world for the better but a few...
"I need you watch over Juan for a few days, see how he reacts to being trained as a witch hunter." interrupting my thoughts, Elvira said. "If I thought for a second you were not qualified, I would not have asked you, Ryan." she sighed wearily. "Do not judge my son too quickly, he is kind and carries an undying loyalty to his friends but..."
"What?" curious, I asked.
"I love Juan as equally as I do his sister but his father has placed it into his head that he is invincible with his science, making him reckless and impulsive." sadly, Elvira said. "He's a loose cannon, Ryan. I need someone to snap him out of this as, while at this academy, I can not treat him less or more harshly as any other student."
"What a way to start the morning." mumbling, I said. *Man, this sucks! Trouble comes to me in heavy doses I guess.*
"Will you accept this assignment?" looking at me, Elvira asked.
