I could wish for to best trainer in the land, with strongest and prettiest Pokemon in the region, she thought to herself. But that would take away a lot of the reward. If I don't get there by my own power it won't feel like I've earned it.
That doesn't mean to say I can't use a little help.
May then thought about all the problems her Pokemon caused her. If only she could understand them better. She could get stop Munchlax from eating her food or understand why Skitty was so moody at times. If only all of them could have as strong a bond as I do with Blaziken.
"Okay Jirachi," she said after a few more moments of thought. "I wish I was better connected with my Pokemon." Jirachi looked at her confused and May realized she wasn't specific enough. Suddenly getting a thought about him interpreting her wish as being physically stuck to her Pokemon she hastily continued "You know, better connected like able to understand them better, being able to know how they feel and share in their happiness and experiences".
Jirachi looked at her a few moments then said "Oh, I getcha. You want to be closer and share their experiences eh?" May didn't know if he properly understood what she wanted but felt it would be rude to correct him. It was a free wish after all. Anything should be better than nothing and it sounded like he had the gist of the wish.
"Yeah that's about it."
"Okay, then stand back," the small Pokemon replied. Its tags then began to glow white. White streams of light poured out from them and hit May in the chest, while another hit her Poke-balls. The light covered more of her with each passing second. May could feel her consciousness expanding and suddenly felt massive amounts of strength pouring into her. The light started to feel warmer as she felt it filling her. She started feeling various emotions; happiness, sadness, a desire to fight, and hunger.
And then the light stopped and May was once again alone in the temple. Her body felt more alive than it had ever been before and she felt like she could lift a small boulder.
