Sonic smiled at Tails. "Hey, lil' bro. How's it goin'?" Sonic asked cheerfully.
"I just built a laser gun. I was about to test it out." Tails replied.
"Well, let's see what it does then." Sonic chuckled, leading Tails back inside. Tails grabbed a small mouse to experiment on and used the beam on it. It practically evaporated, as far as they could tell. Sonic looked at where it had been to find that it was now /very/ small. "Wow!" Sonic gawked, picking the small rodent up. "Look at it, Tails!"
Tails came closer to see the shrunken mouse. "So that's why the material is considered harmless. It can't hurt anything on its own." Tails mumbled, looking deep in thought.
Sonic tightened his grip a little bit, fearful that he might drop the tiny mouse, only to wind up crushing it. "Oops."
"Huh?"
"I-I didn't mean to kill it. I-I just didn't wanna drop it."
"You killed the mouse?" Sonic nodded. "Well, it was too small to have survived either way, so I don't think it actually matters."
Sonic sighed, walked by the laser gun that Tails had set down, and then stopped. The temptation was incredible. He couldn't even try to look away. Tails heard the gun move and looked to see that Sonic was holding it. Sonic noticed that Tails was trying to tell him to put it down, but Sonic couldn't even hear what Tails was saying.
