Chapter #3

Secure the back rope nearest Jonathan

Clara carefully makes her way towards Jonathan. Already unsteady she knew the well broke-in shipman would be able to help her should she need it. Peter would try if she were in danger but that would be fatal for them both rather than helpful. Slipping along the deck she at last stops at the ropes and struggles to catch them as they flap in the wind whipping at her arms. The ship dips and she drops to her knees as it rises just as fast. She scrambles to her feet and catches the second rope only for it to be jerked out of her hands. As she began to turn to Jonathan for help the rope whipped back slicing across her face leaving its mark. Clara flinches and pulls away. A steadying hand appears at her lower back.

"Steady girl. The ship will abuse you if given the chance." He reaches around her and catches the rope and ties it in one motion.
